I saw a few flaws with Tank last night but by no means was he exposed. Gamboa came to fight. Tank was loading up and landing single shots. Even a chinny fighter can withstand single shots they can see coming a mile a way. Before everyone go crazy on Tank remember Crawford had a tough time with this same Gamboa. Lomachenko needed all 12 rounds with a guy Tank got out of there in 7. Lomachenko was knocked down and took 10 rounds to get rid of Linares who’s been stopped brutally by lesser fighters. Tank needs to work on his stamina and hone in on his skills but he certainly didn’t need it last night against Gamboa.

Gamboa did seem different than his usual self. Some (but not all) of that could be attributed to Davis output. Gamboa is getting a bit long in the tooth, and injury can be the bane of an older fighter's existence in the sport. But healthy, he still should be able to compete vs most in his weight class. Hope he can heal up soon so he doesn't get rusty. Long layoffs are never good for a fighter his age.

As for Davis, I just think Gamboa was more difficult for him to look good against than his usual foes. And IMO, he'll have a really tough time in there vs Loma. I think Loma will simply overwhelm him.

Hate that I missed a good fight card just 2.5 hours away. Hopefully this won't be a one-off. When I get my health back, it would be great to have regular fight cards to attend close by like this.

Gamboa definitely had impacted mobility.
His right leg was completely stiff 3rd round and onward.

If you can't push of the back foot, I don't know how you can deliver any power into your punches. I think Gamboa was unlucky and still hung around for 12 rounds...

Davis was catching Gamboa with flush shots, and Gamboa's punch resistance should not be good at his age and after all the knockdowns he's had in his career.

Probably tells you that Davis' power is greatly diminished in this weight category.

i mean props for finishing the fight but gamboa wanted out early on.. he almost didnt wanna come out. i give him props for staying in and finishing the fight but i wouldnt be talking about no warrior and all.

Even before the injury, it didn’t look like Yuri had anything to offer. And I think anyone who knew what they were watching was amazed at how well Gamboa took some of those shots. The knockdowns meant nothing, as Yuri has been knocked down plenty in his career.

If that's true it was ****** to let him keep on fighting this fight. If it's not true then it's ****** for him to keep boxing at all period. Either way it's ******.

I don't push myself to saying that of no fighter, but I do like Tank a lot.

That's why I'm disappointed. He appears to be following a Tysonesque "rapid ascension, rapid decline" route. With his skills, that is a shame.

Yep. Noticed Exact same thing.
And now that it's actually confirmed it was achilles rupture and he'll undergo surgery.
IMO - It would be nice to see a rematch to see how a healthy, but shot Gamboa can maybe upset Davis.
So Davis has problems at this weight, no doubt.
