No boxer should ever say “I’m only 25”. Let alone after fighting someone who is “38”. On to the next fight indeed. Course a 38yr old Tank would be fighting at heavyweight. Show me something Tank!! Make me care!

Ok then. Compare this 25 year old to some notable guys (and no, I'm not particularly a 'fan' of his. I'm with the very small ''I'll give him room to live up/down to his expectations'' group) -

        25y/o's
        Mosley - Bums
Gatti - Without even looking, bums
        Pep - (see Gatti)
        SRR - (see Pep)
        GGG - Nobodies
Fury - Del Boy and Cunningham
        Holmes - Sheesh.....

Yes, there have been legends who accomplished a lot at, or, before 25. Many more haven't.

The way Davis is hyped and protected reminds me of another popular African American fighter of recent times.

Three weight Champion Adrien 'The Problem' Broner.

He did headline a ppv as a -2500 favourite, good work if u can get it. This is prizefighting after all. My brother says he’s a star.

Just look up some legends and see what they were doing at 25.

He was too heavy in his first fight at LW; punch output was low; stamina waned after round 8; his ring IQ looked mediocre against a 38-year old past-it Gamboa who was never a defensive specialist.

After the final bell, the weak smile on Ellerbe's face indicated even he was disappointed with the performance.

Floyd's not ******. The lack of commitment and discipline from his star fighter has to be concerning. If Davis doesn't change his tune for the next fight, I see Floyd cashing out with Davis on the wrong end of a beat down a la Calzaghe vs Lacy.

I haven't seen the fight yet so I can't pass judgement yet, but nearly going the distance against a practically one-legged opponent after he was already such a heavy favourite isn't a fantastic look. That along with missing weight by a fairly wide margin on the first try despite moving up a weight class has me wondering how hard he trained. It's still a testament to his skills if he can achieve these kind of results without training hard if that's the case, but that kind of attitude will eventually catch him out if he keeps it up. There's no denying that he's an awesome talent but there are red flags hanging from his career.

You can't help but feel bad for Floyd. He took Tank out the hood and bought him a furnished house, just for this guy to lose a belt on the scale, miss weight 3 more times and look like trash against a cherry. If I'm Floyd, I'm making Tank fight at least 3x a year. He also needs to up his level of competition, because these cans aren't gonna keep him sharp.
