I think there is some room for comparison, but there are also relevant differences in their situations.

Importantly, Mayweather deliberately cast himself as the heel. He made a purely financial decision to act in a way which was designed to provoke negative reactions.

It was a brilliant decision. It made him astonishingly rich. Playing the heel made him the richest sportsperson in the last decade.

It also explains where a lot of the negativity towards him came from - he created it himself.

Loma, on the other hand, doesn't play the heel. So it would be really strange if he had to endure the same level of crap that Mayweather did.

Playing the heel is not the reason Floyd and his fans have been subjected to the vile garbage on nsb.

A lot of people are basically just assholes waiting to happen. Give them an excuse where they feel they are justified in being an asshole? Boom.

The other part of the reason is that some people hate high achievers, or have an irresistible urge to tear them down. In Australia we call it 'Tall Poppy Syndrome'.
This is where comparisons with Loma and Floyd seem to be relevant.

Of course, there are also people who have racial or regional reasons as well.

Plus all of these reasons can combine, strengthening their effect.
