The last half of this decade has been defined by fans of fighters that lose refusing to admit their guy lost or outright claiming the fight was fixed to avoid giving the guy that won credit.

But a man who has seen kovalev fight knows that that wasn't kovalev in front of canelo that night.

It was fishy right from the jump because why the **** would Oscar put canelo up against a retiring fighter who was that dangerous? It doesn't make any sense. If canelo beats him, he's old, if canelo loses, he got beat by an old man.

It's a deal that makes absolutely zero sense, unless there was no chance kovalev was going to win... which if you know the sport, and you know oscar, is exactly why he made the ****ing deal.

He bought kovalev off to take a dive. Kovalev knew he wouldn't be getting any more big fights and he took oscar's retirement gift and decided to take it easy.
      Or.....

Kovalev could have taken the dive money, beat Canelo's ass, force a rematch, get paid again, beat his ass again, and retire happily after two easy fights against a midget for crazy dough. Fvvck off to Russia and hide out from Oscar's goons and the Mexican cartels.

In all seriousness, come on, man. The simple truth is the whole reason they chose Kovalev is because he's simply not the same Kovalev that he used to be. Not even close. And when you add in what Kafkod mentioned, it was a foregone conclusion. They didn't need to pay Kovalev under the table millions to stack the deck even beyond the father time touched up Kovalev.

In all honesty, you're falling for their gimmick. They love that anyone thought this would be competitive. It was fixed, but not in the way that you think.

Kovalev didn't seem to try hard but KO was real for sure.

Fixed fights dont end in ****ing brutal knockouts, my dude. Kovalev is long in the tooth, almost got stopped in his last fight, was KO'd in two fights not long before that, and didn't have any rest between camps. He was a shell of himself and that's why Canelo's people wanted that fight.

These are what fixed fights look like:

If it was fixed, no one told Canelo because he was hitting with full force. I do wish Kovalev would have opened up a little more like he usually does but Canelo kept his guard up at all times and would counter Kova lightening fast.

Now that I think about it, this fight felt like Mayweather v Canelo. I think a lot of us thought Canelo would have what it takes to hurt Mayweather, but at the end of the night I remember thinking Canelo held back. He didn't look the same. So for what reason maybe this was the same case with Kova.

At the end of the day we'll just have to wait for the next fighter to give Canelo the challenge we're looking for. Kova tried with whatever he had left for the year but obviously not enough.. Slightly disappointing... But oh well..
