  • What’s the best way to fight and beat Crawford?

After analyzing several of his fights, I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s a good well-rounded boxer who has the versatility to adapt to any style, but he does have some flaws that can be exploited.

I think in order to beat him, you’d have to be able to match his fighting pace, excellent at dictating range and distance, being defensively responsible and with good timing and counter-punching skills. In other words, a master sharp-shooter would give him fits. I don’t think Spence is good enough to beat him.

Drop a straight right bomb on his chin like Hearns did Duran.

Mean machine had the blueprint. A better fighter wouldnt have let him off the hook when he was hurt.

From what I have seen, Thurman and full healthy Spence both stop Crawford. Porter also has a chance.

The best way? Just Fight him. And of course be more than a sparring partner

Well, if you have Hitman Hearns type of right hand? Then sure, that would work!

But we have seen him against Mean Machine, Dulorme and Gamboa lose rounds getting countered and just out boxed in spurts. None of those guys were able to handle him once he turned it up and got more aggressive. But I feel you have to be able to counter him and make him pay when he gets overly aggressive. But then you can't just sit back and let him walk you down. You will have to bring the fight to him and come behind a educated jab. He's not going to be an easy guy to beat due to how versatile he is, but you can't be one dimensional against him.

No easy answer because he's the most adaptive fighter in the sport. The guy has a level of on ring instinct that's rarely seen.

But, I'll have a crack at it. I think you have to get him to go at you. You simply can't chase or pressure him. He's too slick, too agile. He doesn't have to run far, just enough to use your own momentum against you. Let him step to you. Drill him with straight punches as he closes distance and immediately reposition.
Problem is that this type is strategy only works for certain kinds of fighters. Wouldn't work for a Porter. Pac has a crazy way of hitting you before you think he's in position to hit you though. A patient Pacquaio could catch him if he didn't relegate himself to chasing.

I don't see Thurman having any success. He doesn't do anything as good as Crawford does.

They’ll both give him a hard time, but eventually, I see Crawford outpoint both of them to a UD. I think Crawford would actually stop Thurman. Thurman can’t take body punches and Crawford throws a mean right hook to the body. Crawford is a bit too left/right hook happy sometimes and has a tendency of pulling up back in a straight line with his hands down after punching, but I don’t think Spence, Thurman, and Porter have the skill set, discipline, consistency to exploit it. The only WW who had those abilities and intangibles is a 42 and soon to be 43 year-old man long retired as a competitive boxer.

Every boxers have flaws that can be exploited. With Crawford, there are certain patterns that shows the things he’s not comfortable with. He can be outpoint, but unfortunately, he currently has no equal at the WW division in terms of someone that can match him skill for skill, ring IQ, and adaptability.
