In the vast majority of constituencies, the nationalist vote was higher than the unionist one, especially if counting the very pro-EU alliance vote who won’t vote for either side. I suspect a unified Ireland is just a matter of time - people are caring less and less about religious differences as time goes by (good), and one day I can imagine the two will decide to get together in an almight booze-fest (surely has to be on a St. Paddys day right ?). Geographically it makes sense, and the NI choice between union with Ireland or Britain is now a choice between European Union (of which Ireland remains a part) and Britain, which changes the dynamic (a lot).

I'm all for whatever solution avoids bombs going off again.

A long ugly history that goes both ways! This is a subject that shouldn't be discussed by anyone at this time and in ignorant simple discussions ever! These are issues that won't go away anytime soon. Especially with the ingrained pride people have on both of the islands. Arum's comments were funny. From what I saw, he was commenting on thin skinned individuals, not the tragedy itself. Funny how certain cultures like to pretend it's everyone else who is sensitive.

Well as much as i agree with you and hate that about modern society, this kind of comment is not just about being offended..

Check out the history of the subject. People were still at war and murdering people over it not so long ago and there’s still always and undercurrent of tensions regarding the Troubles, it never goes away.

How would Bob feel if someone come into the ring on his card with a pro ********* shirt, or a **** uniform or something. Anyway i’m from a ***ish background like Bob, and know that some ***s are not going to let certain subjects fly, so he should know better than talking about pro IRA things.
