I suspect a unified Ireland is just a matter of time - people are caring less and less about religious differences as time goes by (good), and one day I can imagine the two will decide to get together in an almight booze-fest (surely has to be on a St. Paddys day right ?). Geographically it makes sense, and the NI choice between union with Ireland or Britain is now a choice between European Union (of which Ireland remains a part) and Britain, which changes the dynamic (a lot).
