Everybody wants to be a star like Mayweather but nobody is willing to put in the kind of work he did to achieve it. He wasn't making silly money back when he was fighting the likes of Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo - he took those kinds of tough fights to put himself in position to earn the big pay cheques.

If those two fighters were around now at 130 and 135lbs respectively - the versions that Floyd fought - do you honestly think Davis would fight either of them? No chance. Neither of them were old or washed up. Davis would still be trying to fight the ghost of Gamboa and little old one-eyed Mares.

No one (except hardcore fans) knows who he is. Or cares. Who are you fooling? Mayweather became big by beating other fighters who had tremendous fan support, i.e Hatton, Oscar, Mcgregor. Davis is a nobody who fights other nobodies. Zero mass appeal. Ask a sports fan who Davis is and see what they say. "Who?"
