Comments Thread For: Katie Taylor Named 2019 BWAA Female Fighter of The Year

Katie Taylor saw her already incredible boxing career soar to new heights in the past year.

The in-ring campaign she enjoyed clearly resonated with the boxing public and media alike, as the undefeated two-division was honored with the 2019 Christy Martin Award as the Boxing Writer Association of America's Female Fighter of the Year.

Ireland's Taylor edged out record-shattering seven-division champion Amanda Serrano and long-reigning bantamweight titltist Mariana Juarez for top honors.

Really nice girl Katie, but she didnt deserve to keep her titles this year, let alone get this.

Seriously, this adds insult to injury to Delfine Persoon.

Persoon deserved the win, DAZN rigging the game. Other than that Taylor is a well-established fighter, but did not deserve female fighter of the year.

This is how you create another Rhonda Rousey situation. You crown some one with universal accolades before proven. Not sure why boxing keeps doing this to “certain,” fighters. It’s really not necessary or helpful.

But giving them the podium when they don’t deserve it just adds insult to a fighters whole career.

Rhonda was once an amazing fighter but because she was placed so high in the air she began to believe in her own invincibility. She started to try to win fights in ways that didn’t complement ability or training. Now people question her whole career.

Stop babying folks and let the sports play out. Katie has worked too hard to have false and unearned praise put an asterisk on her whole career.

She may be there soon but after the fight with Persoon who believes she is already there now? Stop already this is ******ity.

Good for KT! She earned it and more than deserves everything she has. I think those fooled by the Parsoon fight ought to watch it again. The only thing wrong with that fight is the scoring. She won by a larger margin than the scorecards said.

Yep, couldnt agree more. A robbery that nobody in the boxing media seems to care about.

Persoon, Shields, and Braekhus are all way better than Taylor.

What a slap in the face to Delfine Persoon. Poor girl gets her titles taken away from her by being robbed blind while the undeserved winner gets female FOTY. And the worse part is that no one would even remember or care enough about it.
Hoping Persoon gets that rematch, can't imagine how she feels about this.

this will be her excuse to continue to duck Persoon. Katie Ducklor.
