AJ cant avoid a punch for 12 rounds, RUIZ got to him and landed the heavier damaging shot even in the rematch. Wilder just has to land once.
Could AJ use the same strategy against Wilder as he used against Ruiz?

Man why do ppl think that Wilder only needs to land 1 punch?
He landed many 1 punches on many many fighters and still needed many of them to win.
Let him get KD, and he may get up.
Look at how Fury outclassed and beat Wilder.Comment

That would end in disaster. Wilder is a different animal and Joshua would not have significant reach and height advantages anymore. Joshua gets starched in 5 if he tries to stick and move like he did against Ruiz.
Hearn will protect Joshua from Wilder until a cash out fight.Comment

The thing is...Wilder can be outboxed. Ortiz did it, Fury did it, Washington did it briefly and so did Spilka. AJ can outbox Wilder, but AJ's defence is not that good. I think if somehow he can fight like Ortiz did...in a reactive counter-punching style with better head movement, he has a better chance than if he runs. I'm curious to see how Wilder takes Joshua's power though if it gets to that. However, I can't see Joshua's current textbook style posing too many problems for WilderComment

I heard a rumor that AJ went behind the scene to beg wilder not to sign that $100mil 3 fight deal.Comment

I love this site for a reason.
If wilder was half as confident as some posters on here, he would have signed that contract long ago.
Its easy to analyze, its a different ball game in there.
Wilder ain't signing to fight AJ even for $200mil.
Is it a surprise he hasn't talked about wanting to be undisputed since AJ regained his mantle? But he already made plans with Ruiz for the undisputed.
Fans girls don't have the brain to facto this.Comment

Would AJ's running and potshots work against Wilder? Wilder has an 84" reach and is a lithe 6'7" athlete not a squat 300 lbs cholo with a 74" reach.
AJ could avoid Ruiz's power shots but can he really duck Wilder's right hand for 12 straight rounds?
Wilder doesn't have any true jab skills he works around and can't handle movement. AJ would coast but wouldn't take the chance and end the fight sooner than later .AJ can win any way he needs to. The shots Fury hit him with if had AJ power on them its good night and AJ hits to hurt you, he wouldn't have a 12 round win on his mind knowing he's in with another puncher . How is wilder going to knockout AJ if AJ decides to box when hes a back foot fighter with no combinations ? Stop people. Ha
Nope, that strategy would be suicide for AJ against Wilder. AJ needs a couple of fights to get his mojo back actually.
The strategy for AJ would be the opposite. He has to stay close and smother Wilder and try to use his strength to beat Wilder up. He can't let Wilder have range on that right hand. The only chance AJ has is to smother stay close, try to rough Wilder up and try to beat Wilder up on the inside as close as possible.

it's not like this vs Wilder...
AJ's defense is quite poor in the department of head movement and upper body movement... So, AJ should try to KO Wilder as soon as he can (Wilder being chinny too)...
Man, no!... AJ is far from holding those in-fighting "rough up" skills you imply above... and he's too old in order to really learn some "rough housing" techniques... AJ only holds in clinches...
... Yes... or instead AJ should try to go all in from the start and try to simply KO DW cold...
... Both Ortiz and Fury "outclassed" Wilder, and Fury was 1-2 seconds short from losing by KO, though...
... the key factor here is "better head movement" ... Both Ortiz and Fury displayed good skills in head movement and upper body movement, but they were both badly caught, eventually... the problem with AJ is that he still shows a poor head and upper body movement and i can't see him learning new tricks at 30 yo, tbh...
I disagree...............that's the best strategy to use in my opinion.........stay close........be physical, aggressive, active but in a smart way..........and everything else I mentioned...........
We can agree to disagree, I'm fine with that.Comment
