Could AJ use the same strategy against Wilder as he used against Ruiz?

This explains it well. Wilder could knock out AJ even while AJ has his hands up.

By leaving his probing hand so low and having no real defence it just invites that punch that I dont think he can avoid for 12 rounds.
This. If Fury couldn't avoid it, AJ isn't going to. But let's be real here; AJ WILL NEVER FIGHT WILDER. WE ALL KNOW THIS!

Anthony "No Mas" Joshua is SCURRRRRED. And who could blame him? Deontay is a FRIGHTENING individual.

No way Joshua tries to go the distance against Wilder. That's not even his usual style.

He fought that way last week because that's what you should do against a 6'2" fat boy.

So you think he squares up with Wilder? That would be a good way TO DIE.

And taking those fights is a huge risk. A gust of wind can turn this guy's lights out. A made for TV boxer (not FIGHTER) if I ever saw one!

AJ could avoid Ruiz's power shots but can he really duck Wilder's right hand for 12 straight rounds?

Nope, that strategy would be suicide for AJ against Wilder. AJ needs a couple of fights to get his mojo back actually.

The strategy for AJ would be the opposite. He has to stay close and smother Wilder and try to use his strength to beat Wilder up. He can't let Wilder have range on that right hand. The only chance AJ has is to smother stay close, try to rough Wilder up and try to beat Wilder up on the inside as close as possible.

Strategy would be to stay close to Wilder and smother and try to use his strength to rough Wilder up. He can't allow Wilder leverage on the right hand. Wilder may even catch him with a looping temple shot on the inside too. But it's the best plan to stay close and make it a rough fight than getting clocked out cold with that right hand from range.

He will never get inside to be able to do that. He gets touched once, it's lights out. Or he starts running a marathon.

Nah, we have to see how AJ looks first and how he rebounds in his next 2 or so fights. If he looks somewhat like his old self that will be the strategy. He's strong enough to do it. Wilder is the worst boxer out of Fury, Joshua and himself. AJ if he is similar to his old self is strong enough and skillful enough to work his way inside and carry out that plan. We have to see how AJ looks though in his next few fights to see if he gets some confidence back.

Lol not a chance AJ could do that against Wilder.
AJ still dropped his hands at times plus he just doesn't have the head movement or quick reflexes to make Wilder miss like Fury did.
