He's still got that seemingly permanent tire around his belly.
WOW Tyson Fury looking sharp on the pads, no muscling it anymore!

I was just thinking...a lot of people said AJ should add a new trainer (some even said replace) and saw the result. AJ boxed much better, even if more boring, but got the intended results.
Why we never hear that Wilder needs adjustment in his camp. Honestly, as a boxing fan, I would like to see more competitive boxers that are improving all the time. Wilder has his power to bail him out but, honestly speaking, little else. All his training seems to be to get that shot. Would be very interested in seeing Wilder improve as a boxer, slick movements, increasing his variety of punches including uppercuts (like Mike Tyson), left hook (that is effective but he rarely use it), and thunderous body shots.
Fury can be elusive with his chin but if those right hands start landing on this kidney and liver, it should hurt Fury or slow him down or keep him thinking twice before coming any closer. Wilder's only improvement over the last few fights is he doesn't throw wild right hand in the air now as he used to and has developed better patience to wait for opportunity. But little else to show for in terms of improvement. It is still raw talent, athleticism, and power.Comment

Except for the punch mechanics his trainer is doing everything perfect, despite his lack of a name, hes creating one for himself, they could do what AJ did and bring in a top notch trainer to their gym from say another respected gym of history, or he could visit other top notch trainers, rather than overhaul something thats working so well already.I was just thinking...a lot of people said AJ should add a new trainer (some even said replace) and saw the result. Hes got his midsection turned off and hes firing properly from the hip, its great to see, esp from a big man its so so rare.
I would tell him to now turn the hip on a little longer or all the way, ive never seen him hold a hip muscle contraction longer than a micro second.
If he contracted that hip muscle (that feeling* he gets when he turns his foot) and keeps* it turned on longer with a fuller range of motion he would get more power and a more impressive punch while keeping the same speed.
I know you are not meant to do that often for safety reasons but ive never ever seen him do it once ever, not even when going full power on the bag, so that makes me think he cant do it yet.

Like his cross here. (notice how he violently changes stances, no small motion its full)

Roy using his hips ALL the way

Even pacman sometimes goes bigger on his range of motion
But most importantly if he can just maintain that speed he will be awesome. But the next level would be to turn the hip on longer for a fuller range of motion while still maintaining the purity of the punch and the lack of muscling from the midsection
Why would he change his style though now at 31? Hes always arm punched and it helps his speed and stamina.
Last fight he would have won if he didnt get dropped twice. I think fully committing to his punches with wilder is a bad idea, just increases the chances he gets caught.
wilder said it himself, he doesnt fight to win rounds, he spends all 12 rounds looking for the KOComment

wilder really needs to punch to the body, he could have taken fury out of there if he went to the body but its not his style and he isnt changing in his 30s.
I think most fighters these days arent changing in their 30s.Comment

hes so fast so that gives an opportunity, hes smart so he knows when to take risks and when not to, and it could stop or cut the guy , I mean hes T-ing off alot of the timeWhy would he change his style though now at 31? Hes always arm punched and it helps his speed and stamina.

but overall I agree with you, except for speed while technically maybe an arm punch gets there 1st a proper punch is so fast with so many other qualities that it makes no sense to arm punch or muscle it (unless u get really technical with jkd ideas or maybe the arm jab is worthy)
also not a style change its more of a small progression than a too bigger change, like yes its better to gradually change no overhaulLast edited by AlexKid; 12-14-2019, 06:53 PM.Comment
