Baldy is a respectable opponent, no one can fault Floyd for choosing him over Margarito. Baldomir is more popular after just beating Gatti and Judah. He is the undisputed WW champ and has a good story to go with the promotion.

    Mayweather by UD.

i dont want to see baldomir fight floyd yet, but he wants to cash in right now which makes sense since cotto/hatton would be tough fights. if he were to lose to hatton then he'd miss out on the mayweather payday. i'm not buying the fight though

If so, this is acceptable. You can never fault a guy for going after the champ. This will make Floyd the linear champ and RING champ, which is a pretty big deal. I believe Floyd is also fighting in February, so that will be a good time to fight Margarito.
          Or Mosley.
I wouldnt mind either, but Floyd really seems to want the Mosley fight.

i had a feeling this would happen..they'll fight, mayweather will beat him up, get a belt and then claim to be the best because of the belt, therefore giving him more time to duck better fights in hopes that all his potential opponents can eliminate each other to the point mayweather can pick and choose who he fights. He'll fight mandatories and paper champs for a while. I think Mosley is the only guy who can corner mayweather into a fight...nobody else has any pull. Mosley has ODH$$$$$.

So if he beats the current legitimate 147 champ, thats a problem?

Well, it's only right. Mayweather is, without a doubt, the #1 Welterweight in the world.....Margarito coming in at #2.....and Baldomire IS the champion. Defending against the best is his job. I wish him well; but he sure as hell has got his work cut out for him. A Baldomir win is not impossible.....damn near; but Nothing is impossible in boxing. Nothing against Floyd; but I've always had a soft spot for underdogs. Best of luck to Carlos.

Baldomir is more than a legitimate opponent. But I GUARAN-****ING-TEE that in the next few weeks there will be about 213987632186129862862386 threads about how Baldomir is a bum and Floyd sucks and he's a chump and not a great boxer, etc. etc. etc.

BTW, I think Baldi has a great chance to ruin Mayweather's big paydays next year.

Oh and is there any word on the $$$ involved yet?

Gayweather keeps running from margarito...I thought if it don't make money it don't make sense...I'll bet you gayweather will be fighting baldi for less than the 8 million offered to him...and it's funniny how the excuses are pouring down for fighting for less money...well baldi is the champ...baldi holds the belts...shut up idiots...gayweather wants to fight dlh and mosley who hold no belts because he wants to make money...so fighting baldi for little money should prove to you that gayweather is afraid of margarito the most feared man in boxing....

Well it's not gana be more than 8 million thats for sure. Baldimors name is nothing bigger than Margaritos alone. How many people came to see Baldomirs fight with Gatii? like around 4.
