I just read an interview where Wilder said "that's it, there won't be a unification now"!

    Say no more.

both him and Finkel have been asked about undisputed between Wilder and Ruiz and both were up for it. When asked in the same interviews about if Joshua wins Finkel went deathly quiet and Wilder dismissed it without even saying they would try. Both were only positive based on Ruiz winning.

I was hoping Joshua getting stopped and then fighting tentatively last night may tempt Wilder out of hiding but i cant see it.

for Ruiz, Joshua followed a foolproof tactic to ensure he regained the titles as easily as possible.
He has never fought like that before which shows great versatility, wipe the tears away and maybe you'll see things more clearly.
No tears at all, I used to like aj very much and I still quite like him. I agree he's versatile and very very physically gifted and fit.

But I still think he couldn't and wouldn't beat Ruiz in other ways than this. The few punches that Ruiz could land on the evermoving aj were very effective.

Btw, also Fury is very evasive but he does that with the boxing style, not with the rabbit style.

It was a foolproof way of regaining the belts, no risk, all reward. Not "survival" as much as supremely disciplined, tactical intelligence.
I think he says survival because there were times Joshua was hit and he evaded rather than exchanged. He was fighting for the bell, not dominance. Can’t fault him for following a game plan but he doesn’t improve in any boxing fans eyes after this performance

            • Aj used his reach staying away from Ruiz I don’t see him having that advantage against wilder nor fury. Wilder knocks him fury outbox him

Tua didnt have a stomach clamp because of being seriously obese like Ruiz here either.

                • Well I imagine W can't wait to get in the ring with AJ then - right? Easy money I guess.

Josh can't fight Ruiz again next tho, especially not after that one-sided snoozefest.

He'll either fight Pulev or Usyk, then hopefully the pressure to fight Wilder will be overwhelming for a late next year bout.
