I saw them circling, yes...boxing, not that much. Both fought scared. It was only "good" for AJ because he had been stopped by this guy already and doesn't usually have to fight like this, and not a lot thought he could. For Floyd to fight scared against that Manny, I didn't see that as impressive or a masterclass or boxing circles...simply because he was circling. Against Canelo, yes, Floyd boxed circles. maybe it's just the way in which those phrases are used in where we are different.
Bro, Floyd hit Manny with the jab anytime he wanted, vast majority of the fight he was right in front of Manny, on the ropes or in the corner, and Manny's punches hit air. Hell, Floyd "ran" less against Manny than Joshua did against Ruiz.
Out boxing Andy Ruiz is not in the same stratosphere as Floyd out boxing Manny. In a hypothetical example a HW Floyd would Gatti somebody as flat footed and rigid as Andy Ruiz, or at the other end a LW to JMW Andy Ruiz would be stopped by both Floyd and Manny.
AJ did what he needed to win, for me they both just average.
The bottom line is, if you criticize Floyd, Fury, Saunders, Carnelo, etc. for moving while throwing jabs in someone's face ("running"), then you need to criticize Joshua for the same thing.
If you feel that Joshua put on a clinic, then those others put on a clinic.
Ugly win. Should have tried to KO Ruiz at least from time to time in the fight.
Commentators praising him as "disciplined."
More of scared.
I'm assuming you weren't paying attention to the fact that every time Joshua engaged strong, Ruiz clipped him hard. Because Ruiz is a counter puncher. You don't over engage a counter puncher.
Besides that Ruiz never got tired because he never exerted a lot of energy chasing.
I know that some of NSB really enjoy Rock-Em-Sock-Em Robots. But the reality is that boxing is Hit and Don't Get Hit. That's what you saw.
