Joshua boxes: "masterclass!". Floyd boxes: "all he did was RUN!" seems legit

Look, I felt Joshua won an easy 12-0 blowout and deserves credit for adapting. But let's not pretend what we saw is any different than what someone like Mayweather did against Manny, or Spence did against Mikey as far as strategy. And I find ironic people praise Joshua for something other fighters have repeatedly done.

Let's also not fool ourselves. His strategy worked because of Ruiz's style. The first time he fought to Ruiz's height and tried to go inside multiple times and paid for it. Even in this fight, anytime he tried to engage he was getting clipped. That's Ruiz. He's a bully in there. Plus, Ruiz is short. The jab was the perfect way to nullify a short bully.

But clearly, Joshua is not going to put on that type of masterclass against Tyson Fury. Or Deontay Wilder. Ruiz couldn't REACH Joshua tonight with full power. Deontay will reach him - and he only needs one. Fury? Joshua doesn't land a single shot on his head.

Floyd was never stopped by opponent and had to start from rock bottom. Nobody here knows how Floyd would react to that type of loss. I never got the impression that the 0 was a big thing to AJ. To Floyd, the guy who has a billboard on the side of the highway saying 50-0 as you approach Vegas, I think it would mean everything. It's tactical, but it was also a big psychological hurdle to get over

Disagree, because if he lost to someone who was obviously better, nobody would blink an eye. Regardless, boxing style = boxing style. People need to be consistent.

When guys like Billy 'Juice' Saunders box circles around Lemieux and Joshua boxes circles around Andy 'Buster Douglas' Ruiz, I see that no different than Floyd boxing circles around Manny, or Spence boxing circles around Mikey. They're all equal.

      Hit and not get hit.

I agree. I would even say AJ fought scared.

            hahaha yep

            he ran...he clinched....

now these guys will celebrate it...like it was a monumental win....you would have thought they just won the superbowl with the confetti and hearn running around like a school girl.....not avenging an embarrassing loss to a 15-1 underdog in horribly boring fashion

This is where some fans look bad and look like Hypocrites for sure to criticize Mayweather style all these years but then turn around and Defend it when Canelo, Loma and other guys basically BOX for 12 Rounds.

Not even Mayweather but even currently with Fury, people bash his style and calling him boring, Eddie Hearn does it all the time but he will turn around and Praise AJ for Boxing Beautifully and Wisely which was the right strategy and always the right strategy for a tough rugged Mexican Fighter who wants to Brawl

It wasn't exciting though and we don't watch Heavyweight Boxing for a 12 Round Boxing Lesson so AJ fans shouldn't get all sensitive if fans wasn't impressed either

There's not a ring big enough for AJ to run from Wilder for 12 rounds.

You Limey cvnts are pathetic. Wilder turns Ortiz inside out, and you give him no credit. Yet AJ jabs and moves for 12 rounds, and he's the best thing since sliced bread. Pathetic.

if you criticized mayweather in the past, you should criticize joshua for his performance today, which was playing it safe.

But he did what he had to do to get the win. It was a dangerous move to rematch ruiz right away after losing by KO, but he used the strategy with the highest probability for a win. I hope he wont transform to a safety first, distance and clinch fighter from now on though.

So what should he have done? Stood still, throw bombs and see who lasts the longest?

He threw more punches, landed more punches of every type than Ruiz.

If your idea of boxing is for the two guys to stand in the centre and unload then you're not really a boxing fan are you? Because that isn't boxing. It is street fighting.
