Ruiz should be ashamed of himself hitting the buffet too much. Never saw any sense of urgency from him and most likely didnt train as hard as he should due to him believing he would hurt Joshua with any big punch he lands from what he saw in the first fight which didnt happen tonight.

Joshua looked good, took the punches good, but clearly he doesnt have the firepower that Wilder has and periods of the fight he looked uncomfortable against a guy he had a big height and reach advantage against who was unmotivated.

I believe this version of Joshua would beat Fury, but can't picture him winning against Wilder as Ruiz landed several punches on him and he couldnt really faze Ruiz. Wilder has a good chin and has that one hitter quitter that would put major mental pressure on Joshua that would burn up his stamina.

Not sure why people keeping trashing Wilder for lack of skills. He's looked pretty damn good the last 2 years and from tonights card with all these heavyweights he is better than guys like Whyte, Povetkin, Hunter and Ruiz. You see these fools making complete whiffs and flopping all over the place in their fights. Wilder now has that patience and when he really goes for it actually has a high connect percentage. He also has that movie like superhero self belief where he feels he can take anything coming his way, doesn't panic and knows he can wipe the guy out with a single punch. Joshua's firepower hasn't looked that menacing against guys with decent chins like Takam, Parker and Ruiz that i feel Wilder is now on par with in that department.

Much respect. I think your street chops are on key here my friend. Its a funny thing... A pressure fighter is like a Mongoose, you have to be at the right distance and let it go at the right time. Ruiz was cutting the ring beautifully the first few rounds but was not taking that extra step, mixing it up, taking the risk, to bring AJ into his wheel house. And I think one of the reasons is not respecting the game, not being able to risk it, stay hungry and attack.

What eventually happens is he started following AJ around...and that was all she wrote. Aj boxed beautifully.

He made the adjustments required. Ruiz did exactly the opposite.

If that's not a lesson then I don't know what is.

Joshua was far from perfect, by the way. He won't go near Ruiz again just in case he bothers to prepare.
I disagree... AJ landed more Jabs, which can be expected being taller and longer. But he hardly threw power shots.. Ruiz's punches seemed to bother AJ more then the other way around.

I dont think he "imposed" the style he wanted.. he wanted to run through him but couldn't... he was left to settle with winning a snoozefest while attempting not to engage.

The people that are criticizing AJ are casual fans. This is boxing. Yes, it was not fight of the year but he did what he was suppose to do. Some of y'all don't know how to appreciate the sweet science. Watch another sport then, simple.
Also, criticize Ruiz for coming in looking like a hippo.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought AJ had no cardio and was going to fade?
Give the guy some respect. Very smart fight. He trained hard lost weight and built incredible cardio and fought a very very disciplined fight.
Having said that: Ruiz is a danger to anyone except Fury and Usyk, both of him would clown him.

I understand the name of the game is to win, but what a cheap victory. I would not boast about beating an overweight fighter who is shorter, and by running away all night. Any fighter who is made to quit in a fight, should come out in the rematch and make a signature statement by returning the favor and knocking out or making his opponent quit! No chance for AJ against Wilder!
