Does Anthony Joshua have a bit of a David Price vibe?

Personally I see Anthony Joshua as a David Price, Audley Harrison tier fighter. A very limited "fighter" who may already have been found out and exposed. Davey Price was a decent prospect with a similar style to AJ (bullying opponents using his physicality), and once he got found out he fell apart mentally. I think there are definitely parallels with how AJ fell apart mentally in New York. When Pricey got found out by Tony Thompson a few years back, he fell apart even more spectacularly/ridiculously in the rematch!

I actually watched a couple of old David Price fights over the weekend, i dont know why, they just popped up and i never turned them off. Before he got stopped a couple of times he seemed a much different fighter, much more confident in his abilities and alot more free and fluid. Those big knockouts he was handed fugged him mentally big time and moving forward from there it seemed to be in his head that he was only in a fight until he was touched on his chin. David Price seemed to lose all confidence in himself and especially in his chin. Audley Harrison is a great comparison to David Price. A couple of exposing losses and all confidence drained from Audley big time and no matter how many times he talked and built himself up for one of his word title chasing come backs as soon as he stepped through those ropes he seemed to freeze up again.

In my opinion the lack of confidence has ruined them as fighters, they became stiff, nervous and it ruined their style and game. It also saps energy. Thats why Pricey is fooked after 5 rounds. The grip the nerves has on him can sap energy through tenseness.

That was a big loss by AJ. People say Joshua was exposed by Ruiz, i think some of his major flaws were exposed before that its just Ruiz was in place to capitalize on them. Hes had time to work on them, hes had time to mentally come to peace with it too. Joshua could come back smarter and have a better plan all the worry or nerves or tension wont be a problem. If the loss and everything else has chewed at his head then the tension, nerves etc will come back straight away and we will see it as soon as he starts fighting.

Time will tell. Personally i think Joshua will be fine, to me he seems mentally strong and if Ruiz beats him again then we just have to accept Ruiz is the better man and Ruiz just has that mans number. Im a massive AJ fan but im not blind to his flaws and short comings and shorter fighters getting up close swinging in wide hooks around the gaurd has always been a problem to AJ and rather than take and use his physical advantages in reach and height and make Ruiz stretch and over reach and open himself up trying to get in range Joshua has chosen to crouch and lower himself to fight at eye to eye level which ive always seen as a dumb thing to do.

I think Pricey and Harrison are good examples of each other. But id like to see how AJ fights in the rematch before i dare to throw him on the same scrap heap those 2 ended up on after big losses. Like i said time will tell. I hope your very wrong though.

Good post, nice one. I feel like this weekend is AJ's D-Day. If he had a nervous breakdown in New York, God help him now because his whole career hinges on not getting beatdown a second time on Saturday night.

From his interview with Costello it sounds like he believes something did happen in the build up to the first fight.

He's trying to play it down, but gave himself away a couple of times.

It'll come out eventually. Until then we just have to see what AJ turns up on Saturday.

I can see the comparison - both guys are robotic, huge physically and do not take clean shots well.

However, Joshua has faced a much better level of opposition before being exposed.

              I agree with this.
Dude is robotic asf, and tbh not that i picked Ruiz to beat him.
I sure as hell wasn't surprised, looking back at his past fights, it was bound to happen.

But i wouldn't go as far as putting him in the that box.

I think he is obviously a step above those guys. You tweak 2 small things about big Josh i think this comparison would have never been made

                What interview is that?

And of course something happened. Bring it up and people want to act like you're the conspiracy theorist. Still haven't gotten a reasonable explanation for the delay in the dressing room. Still haven't gotten a reasonable explanation for AJ's father yelling at AJ. And AJ looked off standing in the corner before the fight.

Yeah, people seem to forget that now, but Price did used to fight with a lot of belief, now he looks a nervous wreck walking to the ring and fighting. Once he realised he was not as good as he thought he was, he was done.
