The count seemed fair to me — the only legitimate argument that Wilder had an unfair shake in my opinion was that most times a knockdown like that is a TKO / waved off after that sort of hard landing on the canvas. Even so, I don’t consider that a “true” robbery as it’s within the rights of each ref to decide.
I also think it’s poor boxing logic to say what I’ve heard many say: “you don’t win a fight by getting knocked down twice”. Don’t boxing fans realize how fights are scored?
With that all said, I think Wilder is a hall of fame HW and will most likely beat Fury and whoever else (AJ or Andy) and unify the belts. I don’t think he gets beat until late in his career.
That said, I STILL don’t understand these arguments that he was robbed that I am constantly hearing.
And I don’t understand why people claim Wilder’s detractors do so due to racism, either. Most people who hate Wilder love Ali or Tyson (both black fighters). So I don’t think that argument holds up very well...
