  • ESPN has had meetings with top rank complaining about the ratings

    Timestamped. Starts at 1:09:10

    Like I've been saying...

But this place full of people who can't recognize spin when reading interviews or watching videos. And people who think they're getting objective coverage from people being paid by promoters.

ESPN chose the wrong people to work with.

They threw money at the people who don't have the biggest stars to draw the best ratings. They also compete in dates with networks who have bigger stars.

    They're idiots.

Maybe ESPN should spend more time advertising the damn fights

This. Espn barely recognizes half of their Top Rank cards. Plus it seems like half of Top Ranks stable is while great fighters the two Russians or whatever they were that fought recently. Was two top fighters but nobody in the US has heard of them.

ESPN treats boxing like a sideshow. Not a good platform. They have never fully respected or cared for boxing at ESPN. This half-assed effort they currently display is the most you will ever get out of them.

ESPN can't be happy they haven't had that big Marquee fight on their Network yet. Top Rank just doesn't have the Roster to deliver big fights consistently right now. Wilder vs Fury II will finally be the first Big Fight they will be apart of

Reports were that Arum told ESPN he could work out a co promotional deal with Oscar De La Hoya to bring Canelo to ESPN after HBO dropped boxing.
Similar to how GB worked with Mayweather to promote his fights.
Once that didn’t happen and Pacquiao left to PBC the Top Rank stable looks really average.

There hasn’t been good enough matches to get people to watch.

I just got ESPN+ only because of the Disney+ bundle, not for TR.

They have their star fighters Crawford, Fury and Lomachenko fighting dudes who don’t stand a chance and just don’t excite the fans. After fighting Wilder, you have Fury fighting two complete unknowns.

With the matchups that have been taking place, it’s hard to even get hardcore boxing fans to get ESPN+. Disney+ probably saved ESPN though, that’s funny.
