There was a string of fighters who were considered the best champions in their weight class who captured that belt and none of the others.

Guys like Marco Antonio Barrera, Naseem Hamed, Joe Calzaghe, Johnny Tapia, etc.

But Oscar De La Hoya really helped bring it into prominence when he won the belt at middleweight before fighting Hopkins. That fight was recognized as two champions fighting for the undisputed title.

It was around that time the other three belts started recognizing the WBO as a fourth major title.

I also feel it's fair Glowacki gets to fight for the WBO, as his fight with Briedis was a mess...the referee was all over the place.

I'll be glad to see Okolie get a shot at a title too. He's not the easiest on the eye, but I'll be rooting for him.
Agree. Glowacki was wronged and something needed to be done. But Briedis and Dorticos will still fight. Best decision for everybody.

What a **** move by the WBO. They could have let Breidis finish the tournament and fight Dorticos, with the winner to fight Glowacki. It's not like he's had a couple of fights in between or would have had a couple of fights after Dorticos. These belts don't matter anyway, because whoever wins this tournament finale coming up is the number one cruiserweight in the world.

... Dorticos vs Briedis was supposed to take place on Dec 14 in Riga... But there is no news about such a fight...

No i’m not crying about anything & it took the WBO a long time to get respect. It never was considered a world title until the early 2000s. Tyson was undisputed champion when the WBO had it’s inaugural HW title fight between Damiani & Johnny Duplooy. When i started watching it was a regional stepping stone belt.
