Lacy "I will not fight again this year"

Joe won every round I think on the judges score cards...beat em up pretty bad and even scored a knock down late in the fight that might have been more from fatigue then anything. He was cut up and bleeding bad aswell.

Yes it is one of the few times I have watched a fight and actually pitied one of the fighters. At a certain point I started rooting for a KO just to protect Lacy's career.

Jeff said he was gonna take a long break after the Calzaghe fight, and now he wants to take more time off. That fight destroyed him mentally.

thats a good point. I hope not but after a one sided beating like that never know.

Jeff said he was gonna take a long break after the Calzaghe fight, and now he wants to take more time off. That fight destroyed him mentally.

It's one month more than was originally planned.. you're being a little too dramatic here

It must be much easier to love boxing when you're winning, gaining fans, and have an entire network (Showtime in Lacy's case) rooting you on as the next big thing. Then someone who most of the American boxing community was somewhat unfamiliar with beats you badly. Whoops your ass. I mean, truly destroys you. Not your fans, or your network, not even your entourage or ego can lie to you and tell you that you won. You lost hard.

Now Lacy has to brush himself off, watch the tapes of Calzaghe ruining him, and possibly determine why. If Jeff is watching what happened and coming to the conclusion, "I just don't have the skills I thought I did..." then we may be talking about a serious level of self doubt that could ruin or handicap the rest of his career. Talent intersects with mental state to create a champion, even if Lacy has more talent than some are giving him credit for right now, if his mental state can't help him get back up and show it....he may be shot.

It only ever really takes one horrendous beating to take a weak heart and turn it away from the sport of boxing. Is he willing to get in the ring and maybe take another such drumming? If not, he can't step in the ring at all because when you box, that's the risk you take. We'll see if Jeff Lacy can get over this and fight again, or if his heart is just gone from the ring.

My county can't defend itself? Would those be the same ragheads who took down a couple of insignificant towers in NY, and flew a plane into the PENTAGON?!(only the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense). We had some young ****** kids blow up a few trains, you had a whole army train up and hijack FOUR planes, 3 of which went into 3 of the most symbolic buildings in America. All whilst your leader was reading a children's book upside down? MY country can't defend itself?!

And that's my "ass getting served" (whatever that means)? Do better.

I've said it a thousand times. Lacy will not be the same fighter after that one-sided drubbing from Calzaghe, and Lacy knows it himself.
