David Benavidez and Artur Beterbieve have that type of style and would cause Canelo problems. Both are MUCH bigger guys though.

Slick guys with good defense/movement are the ones that Canelo has most trouble with (see Mayweather, Lara, and Trout) Demetrius Andrade, Caleb Plant and Billy Joe Saunders would all have success imo

A Skilled Boxer with some Slickness and some Pop will still give him trouble. I don't see that at 160-175 at the moment, Andrade is skilled but I seen him caught and floored by lesser talented than Canelo. Plant at 168 is slick, that wouldn't be a bad match up but Canelo beats him as well
Great point,,, I actually think spence would figure to strategize this way, don't know if he can avoid trying to exchange but only after he sees he can hurt canelo

I think you're right on the benavidez ,,, that would be exciting,,,, beterbiev also would benefit from trying to hunt him down,,,, do you think benavidez is faster than beterbiev?

I definitely think benavidez has the faster hands between him and beterbiev. He throws quick combinations that are especially impressive for a guy his size. Beterbiev is the harder puncher of the two though and is the best bet out of all potential opponents to score a Ko/tko over canelo.

Could an opponent outfight him with sheer volume.
Nelo makes the opponents fight nelos fight. Canelo dictates the pace of the fight. If a opponent comes with sheer volume, nelo will come back with big counters to the gut and head that will discourage the opponent from throwing thus making it a nelo pace fight.

I agree. Canelo is a brilliant fighter, and he keeps improving. I think we've consistently seen his opponents holding themselves back for fear of getting nailed with meaningful counters to the head and body.

"Discourage the opponent" is exactly right. Jacobs was terrified of launching any real offense for a good five rounds, and was never able to grab the initiative in any sustained way. Same goes for Golovkin in the second fight, same goes for Kovalev who did a nice job keeping things competitive with his jab, but who wore down exactly as Canelo expected him to. A great jab isn't enough.

That said, with Jacobs and Kovalev, I felt both of those guys were pretty content to be competitive and walk away with a fabulous paycheck. They experienced Canelo's ability to make you pay, and left it at that, without pushing hard for a victory.

Swarmers tend to get hit a lot and if Canelo hits you a lot, you're probably not going to last to see the 12th - even if you're ahead on the scorecards at the time of the eventual stoppage.

Problem with most swarmers is they give up power for volume.
They usually sacrifice defense too letting their hands go that much. Though a high output offense can itself be a good defense but not against everyone, especially a sharp counter puncher like ol' Canelo there.
