Nonito Donaire was Inoue's first real test

    In my opinion.

    Do you agree or disagree?

Yep anybody in the know clearly recognized that Nonito is the first real test for Inoue.

Inoue passed with flying colors. Dam he is too exciting.

He passed with some difficulty. And flaws were exposed.

That's why I'm not so quick to crown guys as top P4P until they have actually proven something.

Nonito is the first fight to test Inoue, but not the first test that he passed.

In his 4th fight Inoue has a UD over Taguchi before he became a (unified) world champion. Taguchi won between 2-4 rounds out of 10, meaning Inoue was challenged in that fight and was the first to not get stopped.

And he walked through former or incumbent title-holders Hernandez, Narvaez, McDonnell, Payano and Rodriquez in a combined 12 rounds.

It was one of Nonito's greatest ever performances; defying age and showing he still has some mileage left. I'd pay to see a fight of his.

Can't really improve on that reply. It ain't that Naoya hasn't quality opponents that were considered real tests, it's just that he cut right through 'em all. To answer the TS that's why he's so highly rated.

Yup. I've been following Inoue for a while, and on here every time he was about to fight someone "Inoue about to finally step up and take his first test" then when it was a quick KO "That guy was a bum who never fought anyone!" Typical boxingscene fans, constantly moving the goalpost.

It was his toughest fight to date!

Prime Donaire would’ve knocked him out and finished him in the 9th if he had Inoue hurt, but wasn’t sure of his gas tank and too old to go all out for a finish!

Great fight and is in my top 5 best fights of the year so far!

                  1. Spence vs Porter
                  2. Joshua vs Ruiz
                  3. Inoue vs Donaire
                  4. Hurd vs J rock
                  5. Pacquiao vs Thurman

I watched the fight the other day and was impressed by both guys. Donaire is an instant HOFer, no one could argue this point. At his age, and after the wars he's been in, he was spectacular against a real murderer. The Monster hit him flush on the chin many times; it was a vicious body shot that hurt him.

Regarding Inoue, he showed he had a great chin as he too took big Donaire shots. His conditioning is fantastic...he wasn't even breathing hard in the 12th round. It was a real boxing lesson for him and I'm sure he learned a lot in this fight.

Props to both guys. Donaire should now retire...he's surely made enough money and doesn't need wars like this anymore.
