Why so many boxers are called bums?

I have just read a thread where every top 10 HW is called a bum by guys who sit here and post all day.

People need to get banned for using the word bum, unless these people are as good as PBF (in boxing, not keyboard worriorship).

I agree they shouldn't be called bums, but no one should get banned for saying it. I myself don't call any fighter a "bum" but some fighters such as Evander Holyfield need to retire because they are washed up, and would only get hurt in the ring.

Bum = 3 letters, and easy to type... and it gets the point across

I could say: This fighter is a modest fighter but truly will never be looked upon as anythign more than a mediocre fighter who never truly accomplished much. Bum is shorter. You're probably just upset that Sultan looked like a bum against another bum in Austin.

It's just a term used widely by posters who thinks a fighter doesn't measure up to the stature they have. No big deal really, but it shows the knowledge and character of the poster.

How would you regard a poster who's calling a former 2 divisional Champ a bum? That fighter may be over the hill or something but definitely doesn't deserve to be called a bum.

cause when you fight three times a year it isnt fair to the fans to not show up for work.

i know youre a sultan fan, do you think its acceptable for a fighter to come in blatantly overweight for the biggest fight of his career? i really dont. and then fight a completely out of character boring fight on television? again i dont. this is after a long line of idiots pre-fight talking about how he is the white mike tyson. lol. can you imagine ray austin lasting even one round with mike tyson? i cant do it.

not to single sultan out, i thought he was gonna be impressive though. its hard not to criticize fighter cause they spend so much time talking about what theyre going to do. other sports arent like that. and when they have 6 months to get ready for a fight and fail to do its not that hard for frustrated fans to call a guy a "bum"

and then his manager comes out and says he was robbed when clearly he was not. hell he landed about 3 punches a round from round 2 through 8. lol. got knocked down by a ray austin left hook? and he says he was robbed? why not call him a bum? he obviously doesent have that much integrity himself. at least not near as much integrity as he does excuses.

again, sorry to single out sultan, he just happens to be the most recent example, and for the record i hope he learns some humility from this and comes back stronger than before.

                Nautilus, what's up?
                How you been?
Anyway, I respect what you said. Fighters shouldn't be called bums. It's wrong to call anyone risking their life to put food on the table a bum.

                Quick question, though.
What did you think of Benn, Watson, and Eubank?
