He's no longer draining himself. He's probably closer to his walking around weight at this age by now.

He was cutting a TON of weight. Go back 5 years, his rehydrations were insane. When fighting at 154 he was rehydrating in upper 160s and low 170s. He stopped posting his rehydration weights for a really good reason. Canelo is shorter than avg SMW, but he's VERY compact. If you compare Tyson to today's HWs, you'll see similar things.

Canelo is a natural MW, and possibly even a SMW. His dedication to nutrition is absolutely top notch, one of the best things about him.

        Did it really?

He knocked out Kovalev but he’s old and shot and been stopped not so long ago and was nearly stopped by Yarde.

He stopped Rocky Fielding but he was knocked out in about a minute by Callum Smith.

So i don’t think there’s really any solid evidence. Canelo has decent power. He has never really stopped any decent fighters at 160 or even looked like stopping them.

I am not sure Canelo's power is increasing as he goes up in weight. He has only had two fights above 160 and that is Fielding and Kovalev. He hit them hard and knocked them both out but neither of them had good chins when he fought them. Callum Smith easily KOed Fielding in one round when he fought him before Canelo fought him. Kovalev had recently been KOed by Alvarez who was not a big puncher. Canelo had shown good power at 155 KOing Khan and Kirkland with one good straight right. I wonder if Canelo could knock Beterbiev down.

Just goes to show that Canelo was never really a natural WW or JMW like so many people said he was.

Manny KO power is blown outta proportion. He moreso scored TKOs/ Ref stoppages.

Only KOs he got was Hatton and Diaz.
