    Gamboa isn't.

Cotto was also a world champion when Canelo fought him. Having turned his career around after hooking up with Freddie Roach.
And Davis will be a "world champion" by beating Gamboa. Go figure........

Gamboa a 7 at his peak. He's probably a 3 or 4 now at best.
I disagree a bit on that...but thanks for the reply

So let's see your ratings on a scale of 1-10. Along with Gamboa's.

Gamboa has been washed up for 5 years now, he even got absolutely dominated by journeyman Castellanos in 2017. At least Cotto and Kovalev were still high caliber fighters who were capable of beating top 10 ranked MW/LHW fighters when Canelo faced them. Not to mention, at their respective peak, Gamboa was not as highly regarded as Cotto and Kovalev were.

The Sadam Ali fight was more than 2 years after the Cotto vs Canelo match, Cotto was pretty much semi retired by then.

Give me your answers there if you don't mind...not to mention that Gamboa is on a 3 fight win streak himself...that was to your point of being capable of beating a top 10 fighter in their division...maybe he can't, he is at 135 now...but at 130 he probably could...I don't know if Cotto could have beaten a real top 10 MW on even terms though either.

                I disagree completely with that.

Gamboa is 37 and close to shot.

Two of the same kind of boxers, fighting each other.

Just one is old and the other is young.

Idk if it's a cherry pick. But it's better than a tomato can. Seems like one of those, passing of the torch, type matches.

I hear ya...and I would then say that in that case Kov, Mosley and Cotto were also close to shot...they seem to be all about the same level in this fight/those fights...but as mentioned Gamboa wasn't quite as high at their peaks, and thus if he lost a point or 2 off of his best, then he would be a bit lower than those guys for a fight like these.

But yeah I don't really see the case where he is much more shot, relatively speaking, than those guys were.

Scale of 1-10 what would you rate Gamboa right now, and Tank?
