Kovalev and Cotto were world champions. Gamboa isn't.

Austin Trout completely outclassed Cotto before his three fight knockout streak.

Cotto then knocked out a guy who finished his career at 29-9-4 who fought most of his career at welterweight.

Sergio Martinez was washed up and injured himself in the Cotto fight.

Daniel Geale was ruined by GGG. After getting knocked out by Cotto, he was knocked out in his next fight by a guy who finished his career at 12-6.

Cotto was outclassed by Sadam Ali two fights after he lost to Canelo. Ali was then knocked out by Jaime Munguia and then Anthony Young. Young has losses to guys who are 13-4 and 16-2.

Not to mention that Martinez was at 159...not a big deal really...as you said the main thing with him is his knee was sh.it in that fight...he cashed out.

But Geale was at 157 and was a shell of himself after draining that extra 3 pounds...my opinion anyway, and from all accounts most agree he was really affected by that weight cut.

Kovalev was good enough to be world champion as recently as nine days ago.

                Gamboa isn't.

Cotto was also a world champion when Canelo fought him. Having turned his career around after hooking up with Freddie Roach.

Lol just looking for a simple 1-10 scale here my friend...you're appearing to say it is a simple yes or no for these guys as far as being a quality win...what I am saying is there is nuance here, and that the level of those guys is not too far apart, and in truth was never tremendously far apart even at their peaks.

                    Kovalev a 9 at his peak. A 7 now.
Cotto an 8 at his peak. A 7 when Canelo fought him.

Gamboa a 7 at his peak. He's probably a 3 or 4 now at best.

Gamboa is seriously damaged goods and I've been worried about his health for a while now.
