Hopefully that is one of the things he will learn from this fight.

He needs to have a plan B, and a plan C, D and E if needed. He needs to be able to adapt.

He also needs to mix up his right hand. His use of it wasn't very good tonight, but his left was ok. He was loading up and hooking his right too much, and it was the same punch every time, following as Santiago moved to his left.
It was like his left hand was more mature than his right.

I think that if Haney was a year or two more experienced then he would have been able to handle this fight a lot better.

Most certainly not Santiago clearly has some sort of amateur pedigree. That's clearly a well schooled fighter that knows his way around a ring.

That guy your quoting has "experience in the ring" but can't tell if a fighter had an amateur background.

And still uses boxrec to come to conclusions.

I would take everything that comes out his cum soaked mouth with a grain of salt.

Plus he's bald, and likely ugly as ****.

No he isn't overrated though possibly a touch overhyped at this current time.

I think he's a very, very good prospect with a huge ceiling. Worth noting he took this on short notice.

Tricky match up stylistically but he answered everything asked of him and got in 12 valuable rounds against a good, awkward opponent.

He'll learn a lot from tonight.

He was in vs a tough game lanky southpaw who knew how to tie up...and Haney apparently dislocated his shoulder...though who knows.

Even great fighters will look average a few times out of 10 against quality opposition...styles make fights...the kid is young too, he should improve...good fight for him at this stage.

Some on this forum and on youtube Overrate him absolutely!

              He is NOT:
              -The Next Floyd Mayweather
              -Not Ready For Loma
              -Not Ready For Tank Davis

Hell an experienced former champ like Javier Fortune which has been rumored as a future fight will be extremely dangerous for him. Fortuna is even more Awkward than Santiago was way more Power than Santiago.

Still a big fan, very gifted young fighter but lets SLOW DOWN with crowning this young guys before they go out and prove it. He got some work to do with his Inside Game/Inside Fighting! Other than that he did Dominate, not like he was in any legit threat of losing that one. Running around with the WBC Belt before being really being test, I don't like it honest on top of DAZN already marketing him as "The Next Mayweather" way too much pressure for a Untested 20 Years Old

You do NOT put that kid in with Tank Davis or Loma right now
              Fortuna is his mandatory

                No

According to Boxrec, Andre Ward had 1 amateur fight

Fans are too harsh now. Even the greatest fighters had tough decision wins against relatively unknown opposition. It happens. Is he overrated? Maybe a bit in terms of them talking of fighting Loma but he’s still a very promising talent. I think he’s a champ before he’s quite ready to defend against the best.

Some fighters also raise and lower their level depending on the opponent. Maybe he is like that.

Saunders also didn’t look great tonight but he’s someone who’s known for that, he never really raises his game until he really has to. It’s not great viewing and doesn’t win you many fans, but it doesn’t mean you’re overrated. Put Saunders in with a top fighter and he will raise his game to that level

As for Haney, I still think he could do with more experience.

Too much clinching. Really messes up fights.

that was due to his opponent, not haney.
