I'm not really a Tank fan...and I admit I don't really follow the weight classes below 147 that much.
But Gamboa seems to have been fairly active lately...and since Crawford I recognize Martinez and Sosa's names on his resume, with those being 2 of his last 3 fights...he just fought Martinez in July and KOed him in 2 rounds...that's not really washed up is it?
I know they are bringing Gamboa up from 130 for this fight...but he fought Crawford at LW/135 I think? And gave him a good fight...granted that was 5+ years ago.
But yeah I don't really see how this is THAT awful of a fight really...I think we would all agree that Tank is being brought along slowly and carefully...but who are the much better make-able fight options for him right now?
Genuine questions as I am not too familiar with anything 130 and below, and 135 only a little familiar.
It’s because Tank is an established world champion and very good... I don’t think there’s much reason to bring him along slowly because I think he’d be favored against almost everyone. Unlike other guys who are being brought along slowly because there are question marks on them, I think Tank is ready for anyone.
Thanks yeah I have always liked Tank's talent too...his performance/win vs Pedraza was not really expected and I liked that he overperformed there.
when did speaking facts become hate?? LOMA is the WBA champ but Tank is fighting Gamboa for some ****** "regular" WBA title..come on man
From a cursory look Gamboa didn't appear to be that bad of a pick...as I said though I don't really follow those weight classes that closely, so I will defer to some of you guys who I consider good posters, and take your words for it.
I don't think Tank has faced that bad opposition so far in his career...I think it is clear he is being carefully managed though, but he is young...but yeah he also can seem to beat his own chest and claim to be the man...and it is pretty clear he is being carefully managed right now/avoiding some matchups...so I can see how that would rub people the wrong way...you can't really claim to be the man yet if you aren't ready to really step up.

That "young" excuse is old man he is 25 years old time to play ball with the big boys or shut up and humble himself
I haven't seen much hate just a general consensus that gamboa is shot in boxing terms.
I remember some of the hate was an extension of him being promoted by 50 Cent and his beef with Mayweather. He was always a solid fighter and was Crawford's biggest win.
