Why so much hate on Gamboa?

I'm not really a Tank fan...and I admit I don't really follow the weight classes below 147 that much.

But Gamboa seems to have been fairly active lately...and since Crawford I recognize Martinez and Sosa's names on his resume, with those being 2 of his last 3 fights...he just fought Martinez in July and KOed him in 2 rounds...that's not really washed up is it?

I know they are bringing Gamboa up from 130 for this fight...but he fought Crawford at LW/135 I think? And gave him a good fight...granted that was 5+ years ago.

But yeah I don't really see how this is THAT awful of a fight really...I think we would all agree that Tank is being brought along slowly and carefully...but who are the much better make-able fight options for him right now?

Genuine questions as I am not too familiar with anything 130 and below, and 135 only a little familiar.

I haven't seen much hate just a general consensus that gamboa is shot in boxing terms.

I doubt people hate him its more they hate the Names/top fighters fighting him because Gamboa is perceived (right or wrong) as being pretty much done.

Gamboa is shot. Watch the Sosa fight he clearly lost it. If it was a near prime Gamboa I don't think people would be trashing it at all.

Gamboa got a gift against Sosa and Sosa was destroyed by Berchelt. Martinez had only fought once in three years when he fought Gamboa. He is just a journeyman at this point in his career.

Thats fair enough man, its easy to perceive that based on what you might see on the comments in this forum people are quite fickle about certain boxers. At times the criticism its right and others it seems excessive and unwarranted.

Im 50/50 on gamboa i can see the difference compared to the beginning of his career which i have followed from the start. His dynamic power and explosive attacks have somewhat diminished but he still utilises what's left of his athleticism just not as unpredictable in his attacks and is easier to hit as of late.

Got ya thanks man...maybe I will check out some of his fights in more detail some time soon...yes I agree some criticism I see on here for fighters in general is warranted...and then about half is way over the top imo

Got ya thanks...so I am guessing Berchelt would have been a much better opponent for Tank to face in the last year or 2
