This article is misleading.

The Jacobs fight was in May, this fight was in November, Cinco De Mayo is a much bigger boxing weekend, way more people in town, and that fight only made $500,000 more? That's actually a compliment to Canelo, the fact that it was late in the year on an odd weekend for massive boxing events is impressive.

But you can't ignore that Canelo needs a box office type opponent, which clearly is Charlo at this point.

He fights Charlo in May, it will sell out, people will pay top dollars for tickets, the gate will be more like $15 to $20 million

Floyd was getting a guaranteed $32 mil a fight and still went out there and promoted ass off. With no PPV upside DAZN has taken away the incentive for fighters to promote.

The gate isn't supposed to pay for the purses and other expenses. DAZN only cares about subscriptions. They only need 900k subscribers for the yearly plan to break even. When you take into account monthly subscribers plus restaurants, bars, movie theaters and international subscribtions DAZN likely made a profit on this fight.

It's the other way around. DAZN has to set the fire to Oscar and Canelo. DAZN bought tv ads for fight season. They had the 40 days shoulder programming on the app as well as YouTube. They paid for that when at HBO the promoters were responsible for paying for the 24/7 series.

DAZN is the network. Golden Boy are the promoters. What did Golden Boy do to promote?

No suprise. Kov is not well known, Canelo doesn't speak english, and Kov didnt come into the fight with his "Krusher" aura. Didnt help he was almost KOed his last fight.

To be honest If Andrade would of beaten Saunders or vice versa that would be a fight hard fight NOT to make for DAZN with Canelo.
