Mayweather taught Canelo how to fight movers & Lara taught him how to fight "runners" by him learning afterwards & improving his mistakes. But Mayweather mostly taught him timing because that was the main reason he lost to Mayweather timing, Mayweather out timed him for many reasons

Canelo definitely learned alot from his dad mayweather. He even does the head shake when he gets hit.
Lol@ people acting like canelo is some defensive wizard.

Their defense looks very similar to me. The way they roll with punches. The traps they use. People expected Canelo to be more of a pressure fighter when they fought but true boxing fans knew he was a counter puncher. In that fight, Canelo got out Mayweathered....by Mayweather.

Canelo is a graduate of the Floyd School of Boxing. Cong**** Canelo for your win last weekend.

You know why. Because Canelo was taking a risk and fighting a guy who was not only bigger, he also presented a significant height and reach advantage. A guy who could nullify all that skill that Canelo has, really had a good jab and some boxing smarts too it turns out. No surprise that Kov was outboxing Canelo, as it's no surprise that Canelo caught up to Kov after he gassed. Floyd and his camp steered his career away from guys like that. Oh yeah I forgot about that killer Conor McGregor

Sure of course all fighter take little movements from the Greats but we also see Andre Berto and Adrien Broner FAIL and trying to use the shoulder roll because they don't have the timing or reflexes for it

Canelo is very versatile though, he can box but he can also stay in the pocket and FIGHT while still being smart defensively and making guys miss from within the pocket
Your correct Canelo was blessed with good timing and reflexes, I agree with you but cmon now that GIF of Jacobs and Canelo.....my grandmother could have slipped those lazy pawing jabs Jacobs were throwing.

Fück Gayweather. Canelo learned his defensive wizardry on his own.

                Off topic:
Gayweather never dared to be great by moving up two divisions. He never wanted anything to do with GGG, he didn't even want to fight a one legged Sergio Martinez.

TBE? At what? Ducking, dodging fights and conning people into buying his B.S. fights?

Years from now Canelo will be remembered, while Gayweather will be broke, sweeping the strip club he used to own.

And plus kovalev throws straight punches almost exclusively...hence the high guard and parrying and not much weaving.

On the topic of the thread...canelo has a different stance and defence than mayweather. His upper body is generally a lot more square and he uses much more slips and weaves than mayweather, who predominantly rolls and bows.

Not even close. Mayweather is the master of defense. Canelo`s defense is pretty basic: high guard, waiting that the man in front of you throws what he has. And than quick hook straight from high guard position. It is about reflexes. Canelo`s boxing looks like boxing from some recreative boxing school season, just on master level.
