What is a Catchweight ?

There is no pound that doesn't fall under one division or another. Yeah, 169 lbs would fall within the LHW limits, but if you mandate it to be a fight to be at anything but the MAX limit, it's a Catchweight fight. Weather technically the Title is on the line or not, that's what it would be.

A catchweight is a fight that takes place between weight limits.

If Canelo asked Kovalev to come down to 174lbs, that’s a catchweight.

Canelo called out Mayweather at a catchweight of 150lbs, but after some negotiating, the fight happened at a catchweight of 152lbs.
