Roy is a shot fighter who ducked entirely too many big names in his time. He is the biggest waste of talent boxing has ever seen. I'm not saying he'd lose to even 1/4 of the people who he supposedly ducked, but he definitely did avoid them. He was a better fighter with natural reflexes and great speed. Too bad he squandered them on meaningless belts against meaningless opponents for too long in his career.

Hell, had he just beaten Darius, that would've been enough because he could've made claim to the best LHW of his time by showing off his skills and belts.

ok me being a huge roy jones fan, i think that's a fair assesment. regardless of all the red tape and politics on roy's or anyone else's part in making the big fights, they never happened. i also agree that roy could have used his talent to become even greater, but it just didn't happen.

Your right and wrong that about hopkins. Hopkins doesn't land as much but in his career Hopkins thru many punches in volumes. In those 5-10 fights before tito, Hopkins was in his prime and often changed his style according to the fighter but was a swarmer and body attack fighter. I think the Hopkins that fought Tito was out of his prime because he was slowing down.

Roy is a great fighter and in his prime was so fast he would embrass many of the 10 top middlewights and heavyweights. Your chin doesn't come into play till you get hit. Problem with ROY was he was so fast he lacked good fundmentals that hopkins and toney have and is why he struggles today.

Roy would lose to hopkins in a rematch

          Ducking???
          Bhop/tate/toney/Pazienza/sosa/McCallum/Griffin/Virgil hill/R.Johnson/Harding/Harmon/Glen Kelly/C.Woods/Ruiz/Tarver/Johnson

those where just some of the high class comp Roy has been in with. Hill/Woods and Hopkins are currents champions now. and Tony has went up and beat 2 HW champions. Give th eman his credit. anyone you can try to say he ducked would have been creamed by Roy in his prime.

You're missing the point by a mile Great1. Of all those "big" names you mentioned... there were much better names out there to fight the entire time, with the exception of the Toney fight. There was a plethora of great fights that could've been made but weren't.

Also, I even state in my post that Roy would probably win.. that's not the ****ing point though. While I believe Roy would've beaten the vast majority of the other great fighters of his time... the problem is I typed "would've"... not did.

It's the same problem most people have with Floyd today. I, like many, believe can beat virtually anybody at his weight class with relative ease... but saying he can and actually doing it are 2 different things.
