Hopkins ducked Roy. After Hopkins defeated Tito, there were talks of Jones-Hopkins II happening. But Hopkins wanted no part. His excuse was he wasnt getting paid enough for the fight, when in actuality the fight between him and Roy would have generated the most money he had ever made in his career at that time around $6-$8 million for Hopkins. And what did Hopkins do after he refused to fight Roy because he was getting paid less? he fought a bum somehwere in the $100,000 range. -
9 rounds to 3 is good enoughOriginally posted by Dirt E GomezGod, I don't even dislike Roy but I wish Prince Abujabu wouldn't ko'd him into next century so I wouldn't have to read this mindless nuthugging bull****. They fought earlier in their careers.
Hopkins did something Roy never did though... evolve as a fighter. The Hopkins of today is nothing like the young Hopkins. Oh, and there's no way Jones won easy. He won the fight obviously, but by no way was it even close to a blowout.Comment

he sure didnt have a hard time eitherOriginally posted by oldgringoRoy didn't have an "easy" time with hopkins. You need to watch the fight again if you think that. Hops didn't lose again but he was dropped twice by an average fighter like Segundo Mercado only a year or two later. He definitely wasn't in his prime, but Roy wasn't exactly there either.Comment

You're the people here that make me dislike Roy. You can search through all of my posts and wont find a single one bashing Roy. I'm a realist and call things like I see it. I've never disliked Roy and always loved watching his fights while in his prime. I'm just not infatuated with his balls. I can see what he really is as a fighter.Originally posted by maxoridoHA....ya don't say...Comment

I think if I was drunk, hated Hopkins, or loved Jones I could score it 9-3.Originally posted by TheGreat19 rounds to 3 is good enoughComment

granted, but don't lump me in with he nuthuggers. i personally would pick johnson if roy were to fight him, and just barely pick roy against hopkins in a rematch. that doesn't make me a nuthugger lol.Originally posted by Dirt E GomezYou're the people here that make me dislike Roy. Also to answer this thread, I don't see any LHW today beating Hopkins.
Hopkins should stay retired, his legacy should be more important to him then money.Comment
