  • Weird fight but there is no argument now that Canelo isn't P4P #1.

Kovalev winning 11-0. Jabs landing on the gloves still better than the KO.

      Hopefully they don’t rob Kovalev.
      10/10 canelo hater impression LMAO

You'd think they'd go into hiding after that huge L they took

      • The match was fixed. Kovalev could have finished Canelo in the 8th round but he didn’t even bother. He should also have been leading on the scorecards as he won the first 5 rounds then Canelo only did something in the 6th before being dominated again. This is just a cash for belts.

        • Not really sure what to think of this outcome. Don't get me wrong it was a clean finish and one of the better KO's of the year but something just seemed so lackluster about the whole fight.

I was not impressed with Canelo but then again I never expected him to be impressive at 175 so there is no real knock on him there.

I guess the biggest thing is Kovalev. Something just seemed odd from the start with him. Similar to the 2nd Andre Ward fight where he is throwing pitty pat punches and is sort of fumblng over by himself and more importantly getting gassed without throwing with any conviction. I know he is past his prime but so is Golovkin but even he goes for it when the going gets rough. I guess maybe bad habits catching up but I don't know the guy so it is only speculation.

The ending was also really awkward. Canelo was landing decent shots but nothing to the point where I would say he was breaking Kovalev down. The shots he was landing where every so often. I'd say Canelo landing more frequently on Jacobs and he didn't even seem to be in danger by Canelo to that extent.

Hats off to Canelo for seeing an opportunity to win a 175 title and doing it by KO but I would be lying if I didn't say Kovalev looked shot and barely even journeyman level at 175.

Canelo beat down the old man like he was suppose to. It’s time for Kovalev to hang it up. He’s an old 36 and his punch resistance is gone.

                  • Well, we shouldn’t be too surprised. Rehydration clause and all. Kovalev looked different. Makes sense though. Id like to see Canelo stay there and fight a live dog WITHOUT a hydration clause.

                    • I can’t with this forum anymore...LOL!!!....look I don’t really like Canelo but I respect the hell out of him as a fighter and starting to like him with each fight solely as a fighter. Give him credit, he went up 2 weight divisions and stopped a guy who just stopped a young talented fighter, Yarde, at light heavyweight in his previous fight. Give credit where it’s due. Much respect to Canelo for that brutal KO.

And here is the other thing. Canelo and his team came in with a strategy, anyone that didn’t pick that up is a novice boxing fan. Styles make fights and they knew constant pressure, body shots, would eventually open up the stoppage late. And a lot of people on this forums predicted that so why is it a suprise. I doubt if Canelo will come forward with his guard up against every fighter. He fought different in the 1st GGG fight and with Danny Jacobs. A commentator said that during the fight that it was something he may have picked up from Floyd, stick to the corners plan regardless if your behind in the fight.

Laundry List of Excuses tonight....you guys are hilarious with the hate...LMAO!!!!

                      7. Sergey was winning almost every round
