He stated it was "tracking" over 300k, a number provided to him by anonymous sources, knowing that multiple boxing media websites would run with it as they usually do. No agenda there.

You have to be really blind to see that he's not a shill. There is a rift between GBP and Canelo, we can all see that, but the quotes in that article are hard to believe, especially from a guy like Coppinger.

Again, when he said “tracking” he’s literally announcing that it’s an estimated figure.

There’s nothing wrong with reporting what a source is estimating when you report it as an estimate.

        There isn’t an agenda there.

Also, if he made up Canelo’s quotes, Canelo will eventually say “I didn’t say any of that” and Coppinger will be outed as a liar and will have destroyed his career for no reason.

I’m betting on that not happening. A former newspaper reporter knows not to do that.

          You're confused.

Canelo's ''quotes'' are all relating to the RELATIONSHIP OF A FIGHTER AND HIS TRAINER.

Coppinger writes about Ryan Garcia + Reynoso. He says the Canelo retweeted Garcia and Oscar's drama about ''tell your trainer...'' Coppinger says that Canelo says GBP should not forget that Chololo Larios was their first Champion, a Reynoso fighter.

The CONTEXT for all of this is regarding the RESPECT of a fighter and trainer. Canelo and Oscar can be ******* as they please regarding trainers as the article's story is about. Of course The Athletic is going to reference the DAZN/Devry fallout deal to make it seem like GBP is falling...

Canelo keeps it 100% the whole time. A BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP since the context is regarding the DAZN deal and GBP. There's a legal outgoing atm regarding this. We, and all of industry know, GBP ''promised'' DAZN a GGG Trilogy sooner than later and without Canelo's knowledge that some of the revenues would aid GBP sub fighters. In theory, Canelo Promotions knows that should come out of GBP and DAZN's own private pocket...

All I heard was him refusing to talk about the comments. He was nice enough to say that it is a working relationship.

“You can see there’s no loyalty in him,” Canelo said.

“He changed trainers during his career. He changed managers in his career. So there’s no loyalty. That’s the way he is. We see it now.”

Oscar was with Roach, Mayweather Sr. and that coach with Munguia currently...

So is GGG loyal for not staying with Abel? Everything is out of context for different reasons. Canelo is Loyal to Reynoso, and mainly because they're all from the state of Jalisco, including Chololo Larios, GBP's first Champion.

The Athletic is exaggerating these statements. lol. Canelo said nothing wrong nor did Oscar. They're mainly opinions. Was Floyd supposed to stay loyal to Arum with mgmt as well?

The Athletic taking gullibles for a ride.

I'm with you on this. Nothing he said sounded positive to me at all. Matter a fact almost worse, did you catch the line about " not commentating on a legal issue"? Not sure what the OP heard that made him think Canelo was walking back his words from the ATHLETIC story.

If Canelo doesn’t think GGG is loyal, it wouldn’t surprise me.

But I know he doesn’t think De La Hoya is loyal because he said it.

How do exaggerate an exact quote?

I don’t think Canelo or De La Hoya said anything wrong at all.

I don’t know what Canelo thinks of the Mayweather and Arum split. He didn’t comment on it, he commented on De La Hoya.
