The replies here sum up my thoughts. Horrible translation by the translator. Time to learn Spanish, Lance!

I know Spanish. I could lay a transcript of it as any other poster on this site whom knows Spanish. If you know how to speak english and spanish you know the translator did a terrible job with this.Canelo answered something totally different from what the initial question was. This has always been a problem, they need people who know what they’re doing

The real question is, if Canelo swiftly answered questions for the Athletic, supposedly, why doesn't he play the part of Lance Pugmire? Canelo has teams around him and their publicist to know whom is affiliated to what for questions.Comment

Boxing has become a joke in America, a total joke. Everyone associated with the sport is a sellout in some way. Canelo vs Kovalev is going to be an obvious fixed fight with the franchise winning. Nobody cares but a bunch of dopes and dummies.
There is nothing to write about in boxing, except how fake it is and how many fights Haymon has blocked. Boxing might as well just go 100% fake like wrestling and be done with it.Comment

Canelo is sitting right next to Oscar at the press conference here at MGM Grand, but he's not even acknowledging Oscar is there. #CaneloKovalev

If this was a story from Dan Rafael or Kevin Iole, then sure I'll believe them 100%.You’re so full of ***** it’s unbelievable.
Mike Coppinger doesn’t have to release anything.
Canelo Alvarez has said nothing to dispute the Athletic story and he certainly knows about it at this point.
That’s all you need to know to know he didn’t make up quotes.
And btw, making up quotes is such a sure fire way to get caught and fired, no one would ever do it.
Mike Coppinger has no problem reporting stuff that he hasn't verified himself. Like the PBC PPV numbers. He has lost journalistic credibility.
I can totally see him posting an article that had incorrectly translated quotes just to get hits on his article. Release the audio, or it's fake news. Simple as.Comment

Here's why-it's fight week and he doesn't want to talk about COka dela strap on he wants to talk about himself and his upcoming fight.I know Spanish. I could lay a transcript of it as any other poster on this site whom knows Spanish.

People claiming to be bilingual, but are clearly not. The translator gave a solid translation of both questions and answers from Canelo and the press guy. If I'm wrong, tell what she specifically "messed up badly."Wow. The translator messed up those questions badly. Wish someone better applied for these jobs. I guess its hard to find a way how.

He reported what the numbers were trending. A trend isn’t an exact figure. He literally stated that they weren’t the final and exact numbers.
You’re basing his quotes being inaccurate on social media complaints of a translator who has nothing to do with the Athletic.
