Well buy a subscription like I did.
I don't understand how people are making comments on an article they didn't read.
And the last time I linked a whole article from The Athletic people said I was wrong for doing it because it's behind a paywallComment

Who is loyal in boxing and to what end? Fighters fight for money and titles. They need managers and promoters to get them the right fights, move their career along. Look where Alvarez is now. Signed the biggest contract in boxing ever. He's the biggest PPV draw right now. He's frustrated with Oscar because Oscar tried to push a third fight with GGG. Alvarez is big enough now that he wants to be his own boss, keep more of his money. Nothing wrong with that but he should just come out and say it instead of all this passive-aggressive nonsense.
Coppinger can try and make it seem out of touch, but Canelo always keeps his reserve, and Coppinger and Lance - both the Athletic - have been trying to cause gossip within GBP as usual. Sensationalizing stuff just so that the Athletic can see what noise theire new employees can pull.
Its fight week, not unusual for stories like these by the requests of industry competitors to try and get into Golden Boy heads.Comment

Quoting snippets of what somebody says, without any context before or prior in the sentence, but added into a narrative of rumor is a very common journalistic hook to generate discussions and attention just like this.

“The money part doesn’t bother me,” Alvarez said, “but I hope (Golden Boy Promotions) understands that all these sponsors, including DAZN, are there because of me. I hope they appreciate that.”
To that point, following the DAZN deal, Alvarez said he is paying closer attention to his business arrangements with Golden Boy.
“I have a lawyer who is taking care of all that stuff for me and making sure all is in order,” Alvarez said. “You’ve got to look out for yourself.”
Canelo is to big for a promoter. He should be paying a promoter a flat fee to put on his shows and pocketing the rest. If only there was someone out there who could explain this to him and help him execute it.Comment

Canelo is realizing what Floyd understood a long time ago.

Canelo specifically said after Coppinger and Lance creates gossip about the DAZN-GGG fight pressure, saying he and Oscar and GBP are still family.
Canelo’s “lawyers” would handle the DAZN contract. If Oscar fooled DAZN without Canelo’s consent, yet no contract, then Oscar wouldn’t need to worry. That’s just DAZN having too much trust in Oscar. Oscar seems to have hustled DAZN as well.
And Haymon always got his 10% off Floyd fights. Haymon not even a fighter.Comment
