If there is no restriction then why did they have to ask for permission to require a second day weigh in?? The WBO has no second day weigh in stipulated in their rules as far as I know. If there is a second day weigh in it's definately a restriction on the amount of weight that Kovalev can come in at. Jacobs declined going to the second day weigh in when he fought Golovkin. He also paid a fine when he fought Canelo for exceeding the second day weigh in limit. Obviously he thought meeting the second weigh in limit would hamper his performance. Canelo's camp obviously thinks it's important or they never would have asked. Don't know if it's actually in effect but if it is.......Yes, in the past Kovalev’s weight has hovered around 190 but Against Yarde and in his second fight with Alvarez, Kovalev was closer to 180 than 185. It’s why there is no hydration clause. Originally Gomez had asked Duva about a catch weight for Kovalev, Duva said no. He then asked about a second day weigh in , she said sure. There isn’t a special restrictive one in this fight because it would not achieve anything.
It makes me wonder if this isn’t a miscalculation by Canelo’s camp. They restricted Fielding, Chavez and even Jacobs but now they are in a position of having to fight Kovalev without weakening him first.Comment

But that's a guy in his own weight class, even the 50% KO ratio guys have the power to KO even the most durable 160lbers like Fonfara did Chavez Jr.Comment
