The thing of it is... yes, if it goes the 12... I fully expect the Vegas water to get judges to give the scorecards to him... as such, I think if Kovalev can get in as many shots on Canelo as he did on Yarde... ok, even less... we may see Ginger on the floor.

Kovalev perfectly well knows that the cards are against him.

I think the gameplan will be to jab jab jab jab knock his ass out.

I hate it when a guy will talk nonsense just to hype a fight. If the fight is legit, there's no need to be crazy.

Ward pushed Kov in both fights
      Alvarez was a fluke
Yarde had a very brief moment

For him to say a small 1st timer will be a harder test than Ward is silly. What is it he thinks Nelo can do that Ward didn't ????

I like Kovalevs jab for sure. But Nelo has gotten much slicker in my opinion since his heavy footed days. When two top guys fight I usually expect things to me more tactical and less real damage to be exchanged. I just don’t know if Kovalev before twelve rounds can get enough damage done to break down Nelo to get a stoppage. Kovalev was looking like he was on his way out at one point vs Yarde. Also I think Nelos counter punching slows down a lot of attacks. I think Kovalev is going to need to push when Nelo slows down mid fight. I think Kovalev is going to have to have at least one punch that is all wrong for Nelo to get any sort of win.

I'm inclined to "predict" that Kovalev loses in a public sparring exhibition, takes the money and rides into the sunset...

(but one never knows how this mad Russian will actually react into the ring...)

Ugh ur right, it’s like ********. I’m almost sure what u said will be correct. But we watch hoping to be proved wrong, but also patting ourselves on the back when we get it right. It’s a nice little racquet they’re running. I just don’t know if Kovalev can get enough done in twelve rounds to stop Nelo. If it goes to points u know one judge will have it wide for Nelo. Nelo is the Pope. U need to win by two points.

... my prediction is for a public sparring exhibition fight...

... but even in such cases things may go wrong (not like as agreed upon)... ...

The biggest problem in boxing is....

Nobody here believes that Kovalev can win by a decision. His only chance of victory is a stoppage.

The problem is that judging is manifestly corrupt. We know that's part of the sport of boxing, but at some point, when the fans all know who's going to get a decision before the fight even takes place, they start to lose interest.

There's no way I would pay good money to watch a fight with Alvarez in it. I already know which way the judges will score it.

If the Powers That Be in the sport of boxing don't return to some minimal level of professional integrity, they will ruin the sport financially.

To give credit where it's due, a KO against Alvarez is highly unlikely. He's slick enough that he seldom gets hit cleanly, and even when he does, he's got a chin like Golovkin and is almost impossible to knock out. If Kovalev gets in some seriously heavy work to the body and Alvarez starts to lean on the ropes and absorb punishment, Kovalev MIGHT win by stoppage. It is probably his only chance of victory. If the fight goes the distance, I would bet a winning Powerball ticket that Canelo will get the decision, and so would every guy on this forum. And THAT is an increasingly big problem for the sport.

Ward is the tougher opponent, but Canelo is the harder fight/experience. There's a lot of lights and drama that surrounds Canelo, so this moment is huge. Kovalev has never had this much attention on one of his fights. If Kov can stay focused and block out all the external distractions, he's fully capable of winning.
