Conditioning, conditioning, conditioning. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If Kovalev hadn’t run out of gas in the first Ward fight he would had beaten him handily. It is well know he enjoys a vodka or twenty seven and that might very well have been his undoing.
Anyone who thinks Kov is washed up or a true underdog imho isn't a student of the game that studies the punch stats & other intangibles. I created a thread where I go over all this if anyone is interested I basically prove why the odds are way off on this fight & kov is among the best bargains in betting of anyone in recent memory. I think its due to the nelo haters being the most vocal while lying to themselves because they aren't very knowledgeable about boxing.
It's funny that Nelos biggest haters are also the ones who hype him the most & hold him to the absolute highest standards to the pt where him moving up vs a much bigger, career lhw with the most power is somehow seen as a guaranteed win .
I am not saying that its not a calculated risk,(how ****** would it be if it was someone Nelo thought he couldn't beat), I'm saying that Nelo knows hes facing among the most dangerous punchers that has a great chance at beating him or battering him even(& im a big fan but not blind enough to think its a sure win or that theres any chance Nelo batters or schools kov)
Nelo has been in way more wars & fights & rds than Kovalev. Hes faced 3 power punchers in last 4 fights & in ggg the most hyped ko artist to that pt that had like 96% kos,Jacobs had mostly kos also.(both put some miles on nelo)
Aside from E.Alvarez who kov was beating beforehand, kov has never really taken much punishment his entire career full of fights he won by ko quickly,he had never been in dogfights where he took near the damage Gvoz did vs Beterbieve,& Nelo has taken way more punishment over his career vs much smaller lighter punchers than kov. Imho its insane that kovs not the favorite for that alone
The thing you don't understand from haters is that giving Kovalev any chance at beating Canelo would mean that Canelo is taking a risk. So it does not fit their narrative of Canelo taking the easy route. A few months ago the word in the streets was that Canelo was so scared of Jacobs he would never face him, haters allege he was young too big, too strong some idiots here went as far as to say he was the bigger version of Lara with more power and it would trow more punches etc. as soon as GBP mention Jacobs as a possible contender everyone of this losers changed their narrative and minimize Jacobs wins and accomplishments.

Kovalev beat him soundly and clearly. There was nothing in the first fight that Ward did better than Kovalev, Kovalev out punch, outwork, out jabed and outmaneuver Ward and on top of all that Dropped him.
So - you’re telling us you will lose? Awesome - next call is to Paddy Power
Well the odds have come down since opening. U can get Nelo @ -341, most around -450. That’s very tempting. U can always expect one score wide for Nelo. The guy can fail a drug test and it doesnt matter. Nelo is the Pope.
