Everyone else like Bob, Mendoza, and Pythagoras just fought at their natural weight. Fitzs didn't make weight because he didn't have to, but Roy did.
I think it's an interesting anecdote that's often overlooked. Men before HW minimums could always gain weight, nothing stopping them, except not a single one did. It must be rather difficult, or at least rather a lot more difficult, to fight heavier than you are used to and still be successful in the only division with no weight cap.
Another tidbit one might be interested in is even though the sanction bodies have no official cap on HW the commissions still don't like to okay fights with too much weight disparity. At about 40lbs difference, unless they're names, you might have to shop the location around a bit just to find a commission willing to okay the fight.
