How many objective boxing fans could have picked Beterbiev with confidence? The ones that did, Picked with their hearts and wishful thinking, threw a ball blindfolded from halfcourt and made it.

Gvovdyk victory was the logical pick but cong**** to the lucky ones lol
Nothing lucky about it. Those who knew of Beterbiev's amateur pedigree, training habits and the way he was avoided as a pro fighter knew full well the hype was real.

I've been championing him since 2005 when he knocked out Tavoris Cloud in 2 rounds in just his sixth professional fighter. The same Tavoris Cloud was IBF champion for a number of years just a year or so prior to running into Beterbiev.

When he got knocked down against Johnson (a big puncher at LHW by the way....) he recovered very quickly and made Johnson very hesitant to come rushing in. Infact, watch the fight again and you'll see that Beterbiev was still trying to line up Johnson for a KO even after he got knocked down in the second round....
