  • Usyk not big enough? Anyone remember Jimmy Young?

Jimmy Young was 6’2”, 209, and defeated monsters like Ron Lyle and George Foreman using defense and offensive speed. He lacked punching power, and was robbed against Ali and Norton. He beat bigger, stronger fighters with superior boxing skills.

    Skills pay the bills right?

Not sure where people are getting the notion that usyk has no power. He has over 80 percent ko ratio. Ko's are ko's.

It looks like this saying is outdated among the Wilder's supporters. They liked to use it back in the day while Floyd was still active, but not anymore since Wilder is their no 1 guy - since then, their deepest breakdown of the eventual Wilder vs Usyk fight is, I quote: "Wilder lands that right hand!"

2-What do Wilder fans have to do with Floyd fans?

6'3" and 215 lbs is Ali in his prime measurements. Worked out ok for him lol.

I don't think he's too small for todays heavyweights. I'd like to see Usyk in with Whyte next. That would be a good test.

              - -All Jimmy did was run and stink from the beating Foreman gave him.

I grant that he obviously out clowned and outfought a sick Ali and the Foreman bout shoulda a headline title bout instead of being buried as a undercard in Puerto Rico to featherwt headliners, but that's all DKings doing.

Ustk is big enough. Foreman weighed 214 when he won the title. Ali weighed 206, Liston weighed 212, Dempsey weighed 185 and Joe Louis weighed 198 when they won the title. But is Usyk good enough to beat today's best heavyweights.. From what I saw he comes up short.

I remember Jimmy as having an "obnoxious" boxing style. That was the term Sean O'Grady used when calling Chris Byrd's fights. It was skillful, but not entertaining in the least.

Witherspoon lumped Usyk a bit, so imagine what somebody powerful and fast (like Joshua) would do. I think guys like Whyte or even Chisora would bull forward. I'm not sure how slick the guy really is. He fought a slow, gassed guy in Witherspoon and hasn't proved himself yet.

Jimmy took George’s soul that night. Poor George ran out of his dressing room naked after the fight claiming Jesus spoke to him.
