Hmm...Max is employed by ESPN. By this logic, if he is, in your opinion susceptible to his employer's pressure, wouldn't it be logical to assume he might play ESPN's tune? Its not like he is a freelancer-millionaire doing this as a hobby, right? He just changed a.s.s that he needs to kiss.
And he is dead wrong on GGG. We all set up impossibly high standards for GGG and when he, naturally, does not satisfy our ridiculous expectations, we throw him into the mud. People are weird.Comment

Actually the Liam Smith fight was for the 154 lb WBO belt. Smith won the vacant belt fighting John Thompson and defended it a couple times before losing it to Alvarez. Wasn’t fought at a catch weight or Canelo weight. He made 154 to stop Smith for that belt. Then moved on to JCC jr. then moved on to GGG. Liam Smith has never fought above 154. He actually tried to win his belt back from Jaime Mungia recently and lost a decision.
So credit to Alvarez for still being able to make 154, but going up to 160 to face GGG. Anyone who does that isn’t a ducker. Sergio Martinez didn’t do it. Nor Sturm. Nor Cotto. And they all had belts at 160.
Alvarez moves UP to fight him. And fought him i
twice.Last edited by Shadoww702; 10-15-2019, 05:09 PM.Comment

The PBC doesn’t even mention Bud when they’re talking about the WW division champs. So there is network biases. And it’s employees play to the tune that the networks want. And like I stated before Max is just saying what a lot of people though about GGG for years including myself. HBO over hyped him. Yes he had 23 straight knock outs but let’s look at the opponents. None were elite fighters. All of them were cans aside from rosado who is a decent fighter and moved up in weight to fight him. And what ridiculous expectations are you talking about?
Max criticized GGG in his video for not dominating or stopping Canelo. That is ridiculously high standard, which Max does not apply to anyone else. Not to Spence when he fought Garcia, not to Wilder when he fought Fury, not to Mayweather when he fought Canelo. But with GGG - all of a sudden we expect nothing less than a perfection. Add double standards to already ridiculous expectations of GGG.
No, GGG did not stop Canelo, but he did clearly won the first fight (even if the fight was close). If you so much inclined to go by what "a lot of people" are saying, check the prevailing opinion (boxers, journalists and public) over who won the first fight. And that begs the question to which you must give yourself an honest answer (if you can): what is GGG's level if he, at 35, beat Canelo (elite, prime, experienced and 8 years younger)? But no, let's deny GGG any credit for this because he didn't send Canelo to the ER. No ER=GGG is overrated.

What was Canelo doing in round 10 as GGG pulled and smashed him him with a thunderous right cross?
What was the ginger one doing in round 11 as GGG smashed him with twpo huge consecutive right hooks making his legs stiffen up?
Answers on a post card please.Comment

How many examples of elite vs elite that result in KO you will be able to point out compared to elite vs elite that result in scorecards? It would be an interesting statistics (if you have a legitimate source), but please don't throw in anecdotal evidence. We all can do that.

GGG has always been the type to take to take a punch just to give a punch. Seeing him get hit in the pocket is nothing new...

most people call that a face-first brawler
Jabkin is not a face-first brawler... but he sure aint no Mexican
Golovkin stepped up 4x...
... twice with Canelo, once with Jacobs, and once with Derevyanchenko
he took a clear official loss to Canelo... a unofficial loss to Derevyanchenko... and 2 asterisks
just so long as you are happy with thatComment

And let me correct you on your view of the above of events;
one unofficial win vs Canelo
one unofficial draw vs Canelo
One CLEAR win against Jacobs
One close win vs Derevyanchenko
So really it should be 3-0-1 to G
Lets face it if you didn't have it by at least 115-112 to Golovkin in the first Canelo fight YDNSAB. That fight was badly cooked in ginger boys favour. Not only was there that ridiculous 118-110 score by that ugly tard Adelaide Byrd but round 7 where Golovkin lierally had Canelo backing up around all 4 corners of the ring eating jabs and hooks for the entire 3 minutes, it was awarded to Canelo by Don Trella!? (even Adelaide Byrd scored it to Golovkin) Had Trella awarded that round to Golovkin the overall result would've been a split decision win to G.
Unfortunately this is the crap you get with Canelo, his team, the judges, the comission, his fans, his cheating, his cherry picking, his ducking... I could literally go on forever!Comment
