Kellerman takes a dump on GGG

I believe ggg only won 3 rounds. This fight wasn't a close fight. I don't like max, but he isn't far off. In fact, he was being generous, if anything. GGG looked horrible in that fight, one of the worst i have seen him look.Comment

Golovkin will probably go down as a huge what if. You can say all you want about competition getting better, but he did start showing signs of slippage as early as 2016. I think the Golovkin from 2013, maybe 2014 and before, beats damn near anybody. His movement in his late 20s and early 30s was so much different and fluid than what he started showing mid 30s. Shame Universum ****ed him over and guys back then were dumping belts and allow to avoid but K2 should have pushed and done everything they could've to get whatever big fights they could get. Yes, some fell through and some guys didn't feel he was worth the risk as he wasn't a huge name, but still. It's pretty incredible what they accomplished in a few years but it's a shame that once the bigger and more meaningful fights started coming in, he was starting to lose a step. Anybody who can't see how much different he is physically than he was several years ago either truly can't see it or don't want to admit they do because he's still competitive with guys who are closer to prime. People keep saying only his age gets brought up when he's in close fights, which isn't true. His age has been brought up for years, in that when he started to reach that 34-35 year age range, we would possibly see some decline, as damn near every athlete experiences.
I only agree with the bold
these were the only signs that Golovkin was showing in 2016...
"Whatever you think of Golovkin the fighter, there is a serious mismatch here between his team’s words and their deeds..."

Max makes some good points but his criticism of GGG can be applied to Alvarez, Jacobs and SD as well.
Max says once Golovkin stepped up against the "elite" MW's his KO's stopped.
Same can be said tor Alvarez, no KO's vs elite MW's, not even a knock down.
Jacobs also no KO's vs top MW's and no KD's.
SD's another top guy who hasn't KO'd anybody at the top level (and the same goes for Charlo and Andrade as well).
GGG is officially 2-1-1 vs the fighters Max mentions. Alvarez is 3-0-1, Jacobs is 1-2 and SD is 0-2.
Unofficially people can argue all day about who beat who, but I'll stick to the facts, which don't look to bad for GGG.Comment

GGG clearly lost to Derevyanchenko, period.
Derev beat him from pillar to post and is now Triple Gift's daddy
I always supported GGG, but it's time to accept his best days are behind him.
He's done at the top level. GGG just aged overnight. It happens, and Father Time forgives no one
I dont see GGG beating any MW top dogs from now, with the possible exception of the overrated Charlo
Canelo and Derev would knock him out in a rematch, Andrade and Jacobs would box his ears off
GGG should fight some bums and beg for a final Canelo payday, so he can cash out and ride into the sunset
It's a shame we didn't get the chance to watch GGG fight a big name at the peak of his powers, but boxing is full of stuff like this, like when we missed the chance of a Pac-Mayweather fight when it mattered, because of Floyd's duckingLast edited by lopetego; 10-13-2019, 11:31 AM.Comment

The only issue I have is he would have never said any of this if he was still on HBO. He’s not really wrong in what he’s saying for the most part in my opinion but if Golovkin was still fighting on HBO & Max was calling his fights he would have kept all this to himself & never publicly say what he’s really thinking. HBO would have never allowed one of their top stars to be talked down like this on their own network & Max would have known that.Comment

This. It should be obvious by now that every single fan that GGG has posts online on Boxing forums, every single one. So yeah when you have all 900 of them in the echo chamber repeating this myth they start to believe their nonsense. Since the over million Canelo fans do not post online reality is not given a voice.Comment

You are not being ducked if you are not willing to accept fights even if they are unfavorable terms. If Ward demanded 90-10 split we can have a conversation about if this is a duck. But, if you are not getting the fights you want and turn down a 20 percent split or 6 figure flat fee you are pricing yourself out."Whatever you think of Golovkin the fighter, there is a serious mismatch here between his team’s words and their deeds..."

This is the entire myth of though of GGG. He was sold as the boogyman that cared about his legacy. In reality, he would only take fights that kept that Canelo/Cotto fight alive. That is fine he is fighting only for the money but don't lie to his 357 fans that its about unification.Comment
