Kellerman takes a dump on GGG

No. It was a damn firefight... Golovkin had reportedly had visa problems getting into Panama and had literally slept the previous night at the airport then went straight to the weigh in after landing. Either way, whether just cos he wasn't quite as sharp as usual or because Kassim really is a tough mother-***** or just the way the styles meshed it turned into a ferocious battle of attrition with Golovkin in the end just digging deep and eventually breaking Ouma down, not much finesse, and not even the jab parrying or little back steps to avoid shots we'd see more of from GGG back then. In fact about the only time Golovkin looked actually real tired in his younger days.
Damn good fight actually in terms of entertainment and also showed Golovkin could bite down and grit it out if necessary... it was off the back of that that Gabe Rosado challenged Golovkin. Story goes Billy Briscoe saw the fight and cos Gabe had beaten Ouma himself quite handily he figured Golovkin was there for the taking not realising he wasn't on form that night...

Things change when you change networks LOL, on HBO he was a god, On ESPN he is a has been. I'm gonna laugh if come the rematch he Obliterates Dervy (now that he has fought him and knows the dirty tricks games and gives Dervy a little bit of his own medicine aka elbows and lowblows to keep him honest).Comment

Many forget that Kellerman painted the narrative for him to fight Ward on the broadcast for Proksa. That was HBO’s job, Kellerman, to create the foreshadowing that boxing fans needed to see. Abel Sanchez and GGG even told Ellie Sechback back in 2011 that 154-168 was easy for them. Obviously they weren’t referring to Jenny Craig competitions.
Max is upset because in the years that HBO and the commentary teams always did a sit down with GGG before a fight they must have compiled the same answers that they gave up with Ward. Instead, HBO saw the more lucrative option and used Canelo for their new narrative.
This is why I always say Canelo and Cotto collected the debt from Middleweight while GGG got a pass for never moving up, and as aboutfkntime always states, they would price themselves out as a strategy to get out of the fight.
Let’s assume Chavez Jr. was significantly easy for GGG... it’s not like Chavez Jr. ever had a belt above 160 anyways. If Chavez Jr. failed to make weight at 168 and was 171, isn’t that still easy work for Golovkin if it’s a non title bout? GGG could’ve said 170 for Chavez Jr.
Chavez Jr. would’ve been game. They knew Chavez Jr. was a risk. Chavez Jr. ain’t the brightest but he’s go balls out on GGG imho.Comment

Max is one of those guys responsible for creating the GGG hype, so the fact that even he's willing to admit he was overhyped says a lot. He's obviously trying to save face as a journalist after embarrassingly running with narratives like GGG supposedly eating shots on purpose in order to fool people into believing he's less super human lol.Comment
