"I will be on weight, I plan to (officially) weigh 175 pounds," Mexico's Alvarez (52-1-2, 35KOs) insisted during a media conference call of the mark he plans to hit for his Nov. 2 challenge of three-time and reigning light heavyweight titlist Sergey Kovalev (34-3-1, 29KOs). "That is what we've been working on in training camp."

    that seems absurd... and pointless

the only reason why you would attempt to weigh 175 is because you intend to stay there

he should be attempting to win that fight as the smaller man

why volunteer to give away half of your advantages ?

This makes him coming back down to 160 even less likely.

i dont know, last time he did a second dy weighin for jacobs and had no problem with 170, but 175 the day before the fight is too much imo...

Canelo has been 175 for years. He was damn near that fighting at 154.

Given that Canelo probably weighs over 175lbs in the ring while fighting at 160lbs this is an absolute no-brainer.

The issue is whether Canelo can enter the ring as a light-heavyweight while sporting similar body composition to that which he displays at middleweight. That would require him to gain significant muscle mass and very little fat in a relatively short period of time. While not testing positive for anything.
