  • Comments Thread For: Canelo: I Plan To Officially Weigh 175 For Kovalev Fight

Saul Canelo' Alvarez still isn't sure whether his next fight will be a one-and-done affair in a new weight division. What he does know, however, is that he's going to fully play the part of a true light heavyweight. "I will be on weight, I plan to (officially) weigh 175 pounds," Mexico's Alvarez (52-1-2, 35KOs) insisted during a media conference call of the mark he plans to hit for his Nov. 2 challenge of three-time and reigning light heavyweight titlist Sergey Kovalev (34-3-1, 29KOs). "That is what we've been working on in training camp."

that's a good thing, right? it means there is no BS CW. all we need to know now is if there is a rehydration clause.

Do you think Canelo's fight night weight is less than 175?

It would serve no purpose. Kovalev will be in the ring under 185 no matter.

I doubt they will do it but I hope they do an unofficial pre-fight weight check. I would bet there will be only a few pounds between them.

More muscle means more oxygen needed to fuel them. He's going to gas even quicker. Not to mention the fact that if he bulks up,he's going to be slower.

This could be a major mistake, Chavez Jr. Was a full blown HW against Fonfara and he wound up getting stopped as durable as he was. Stamina wise this could really hurt Canelo as well.

He has weighed 175 since the Cotto fight.
